Emily Estefan and Girlfriend of One Year Share Love Letters on Instagram

Singer Emily Estefan paid tribute to her girlfriend in an open and emotional series of messages on Instagram. The daughter of music power couple Gloria and Emilio Estefan posted a photo of herself with another young woman, Gemeny Hernandez, on Instagram on Dec. 16, celebrating their first anniversary together. The posts generated many comments from her followers, several of whom congratulated the singer and her girlfriend. “What a beautiful couple,” one fan wrote. “Happy Anniversary! This post warms my heart. Beautiful love,” another added.

Hernandez’s post about Estefan on Dec. 16 reads like a Shakespearean sonnet. In part, it reads: “‘I have lived every one of the last 365 days of my life lost in this beautiful place, this beautiful love. Lost in you, and the extraordinary honor of loving you. You are light, you are beauty, you are home, and you are all that I aspire to be. I don’t know where you came from, but I am sure glad you are here. To 1, to 2, to 20 lifetimes more. I love you. Yours, fully, Moon Flower.”

Estefan reposted Hernandez’s post that same day and thanked her girlfriend with the loving message: “What does it feel like to have words like THIS written about you? I’ll let you know when I have an answer.. for now.. I’m just a glowing puddle. I love you. Each and every word you write elevates me. (about me or not) I can’t wait for the world (and you) to see what you’re capable of.”

The singer shared a tender photo of the two of them on Dec. 14, celebrating their year together: “Happy anniversary to my delicate, bold, intelligent, important, honest, loving, funny (but not funnier than me), brave, compassionate, patient, badass, talented, and the most beautiful… Moon Flower,” Estefan wrote, “I love you. One circle exquisitely sealed in time forever. Cheers to many more, and tons more laughing.”

On Dec. 3, the 23-year-old artist took Hernandez as her date to an event honoring her mother Gloria Estefan, who made history by becoming the first Cuban-American to be named a Kennedy Center Honoree. The “Mi Tierra” singer was celebrated at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., along other artists, including singer Lionel Richie, rapper LL Cool J, television legend Norman Lear and dancer-actress Carmen de Lavallade. “Such a special night, celebrating a special woman, with a special girl,” Emily captioned a photo of her and her girlfriend all dressed up on the red carpet.

Although the family hasn’t yet commented on Emily presenting her girlfriend on social media, Gloria Estefan expressed her pride for her daughter on her birthday Dec. 5 with an Instagram post that read: “Happy birthday baby girl. From the moment I found out that I was going to be your mommy you have given us nothing but happiness! I wish for you, as I have every year, that you enjoy all the wonderful possibilities that this big, beautiful world can offer, all the love that your big beautiful heart can hold and that you continue to follow your path with purpose, dignity, and never-ending wonderment. I love you more than you could possibly imagine and am incredibly proud of your awesome achievements and of the amazing young woman that you are!”
