Nootbaar Returns as Cardinals Look to Win Series Against Nationals - Inside The Cardinals Zum Hauptinhalt springen

The St. Louis Cardinals are set to take on the Washington Nationals in the final game of the series on Monday at Nationals Park. With a win on Monday, the Cardinals will win their second straight series and move to a season best six games above .500.

The Cardinals will give the series finale to Miles Mikolas (6-7, 5.19 ERA) on Monday against the Nationals. Mikolas bounced back nicely in his start on Wednesday against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Mikolas went from one of the worst starts in his career to a quality start on the mound at PNC Park as he allowed only two runs to score on five hits across six full innings of work. Mikolas struck out four and did not allow a Pirates batter to reach base by walks.

It was also announced on Monday in a series of roster moves by the team that Laars Nootbaar has finished his rehab assignment and has been activated off the 10-day injured list. To make room, José Fermín was optioned back to Triple-A Memphis.
