  1. Au revoir

    Bob Jungels

Thanks for joining me for stage nine.

It's a rest day on Monday so I'll see you on Tuesday when the race travels 148.1km from Morzine Les Portes du Soleil to Megeve. Some big days in the Alps to come!

Anyway you can read our report on stage nine here.

And have a look at what else is on the menu at the Tour in our stage guide.

  2. 'They [UAE Team Emirates] looked surprisingly strong today' - Pidcock

Tom Pidcock describes stage nine as a "hard day". The Ineos Grenadiers rider says: "They [UAE Team Emirates] kicked hard [in the final 2km] trying to steal a few more seconds.

"They looked surprisingly strong today. They controlled the race very well. He [Dani Martinez] has had a bad day today but we will stay positive. We have the rest day and we'll see what we can do with Dani.

" At the start of yesterday's stage I thought I was feeling good and today I noticed it was getting into a Grand Tour now."

  3. Van Aert dominating points classification

Wout van Aert. Probably the most luxurious water carrier in the Tour's recent history is still well clear in the points classification.

    2. Jonas Vingegaard (Den/Jumbo-Visma) +39secs

    6. Romain Bardet (Fra/DSM) +1min 39secs

    9. Neilson Powless (US/EF Education-EasyPost +1min 55secs

    10. Nairo Quintana (Col/Arkea Samsic) +2mins 13secs

  5. 'This is what I came here for' - Jungels

    Jungels

Stage nine winner Bob Jungels: "I am just overwhelmed to be honest. This is huge. This is what I came here for. I know this means a lot for the team. After a couple of years struggling and a very tough year last year to take the victory this way, it’s my style of racing so I’m just super happy.

"I saw that my shape was getting better day by day. To do something like this I knew I had to do it from quite far because with the last climb I would not have been able to ride away from the favourites.

"I knew if I was going to make it I could make up some time on the downhill and flat. The last two kilometres were endless. Being in the mix and winning a stage is a big step and today I took all the risks I could and it happened. Thanks to my team and everyone who believed in me over the last years."

    6. Jonas Vingegaard (Den/Jumbo-Visma) Same time

    8. Adam Yates (GB/Ineos Grenadiers) Same time

    9.Enric Mas (Spa/Movistar)

    10. Nairo Quintana (Col/Arkea Samsic)

  7. Post update

Thibaut Pinot is named the most aggressive rider today. He should be able to take heart from that performance.

  8. Post update

Thibaut Pinot rolls in fourth. Unbelievable. He was caught by Jonathan Castroviejo and Carlos Verona.

What's this Tadej Pogacar is sprinting to the line. Jonas Vingegaard follows him and they open up a small gap on Geraint Thomas.

  9. Bob Jungels wins stage nine

    Bob Jungels

Bob Jungels becomes the first rider from Luxembourg to win a stage at the Tour since since Andy Schleck atop the Galibier in 2011.

  10. Post update

Bob Jungels passes the flamme rouge. A very welcome sight, even if he is now putting time into Thibaut Pinot who knows the game is up.

  11. Post update

Sensational from Bob Jungels, who is surely soloing to a first Tour de France stage win.

  12. Post update

The pain is etched across Thibaut Pinot's face. He has 29 seconds to make up but is fast running out of road.

Bob Jungels looks to have paced this to perfection.

  13. Post update

Bob Jungels is holding Thibaut Pinot to 31 seconds. Will the drag up to the finish work in the Frenchman's favour?

  14. Post update

What a ride this is from Bob Jungels.

Further up the descent the UAE Team Emirates train catch Simon Geschke. Has the German done enough to claim the polka-dot jersey? I think he's taken two points on the final climb which means he should be one point ahead of Jungels.

  15. Post update

Jonathan Castroviejo has Thibaut Pinot in his sights.

  16. Post update

Jonathan Castroviejo on the other hand is a very decent descender. Can he and his fellow Spaniard Carlos Verona catch Thibaut Pinot and then Bob Jungels?

Pinot is making no inroads to Jungels' lead at all at present.

  17. Post update

Thibaut Pinot is not known for his descending and has 20 seconds to make up on Bob Jungels.

  18. Post update

Bob Jungels crests Pas de Morgins first. Will he collect the polka-dot jersey?

  19. Post update

Jonathan Castroviejo and Carlos Verona are going full gas to catch Thibaut Pinot.
