Purpose

Applicants applying for the MARC-USTAR program for the May 25, 2010 deadline are to complete two separate budget pages: 

• PHS398 Detailed Budget For Initial Budget Period Direct Costs
• PHS398 Training Budget

To complete the MARC-USTAR budget pages follow these instructions:

1. Fill out the “PHS398 Detailed Budget For Initial Budget Period Direct Costs” form for the Training Related Expenses (TRE).  This form can be found at the MARC website http://www.nigms.nih.gov/Training/MARC/USTARAwards.htm.
2. Open the MARC-USTAR application from PAR-10-119 using the “Apply for Grant Electronically” button and download the application package.
3. Under the “Mandatory Documents” select “PHS398 Training Budget.”
4. Under “Section F. Budget Justification” attach the completed “PHS398 Detailed Budget For Initial Budget Period Direct Costs” form.  An example of this form is found at the MARC website http://www.nigms.nih.gov/Training/MARC/USTARAwards.htm.
