This beautifully restored World War II-era Art Deco movie house is a premier multi-use performing arts venue showcasing everything from visual arts and burlesque shows to a variety of musical groups. The theater has quite a history dating back to 1942 when it was owned and operated as a movie house by country music singer Gene Autry. It survived a tornado and a fire in the '50s– and then it stayed mostly vacant until being resurrected in 2010. The Kessler's intimate setting and superb acoustics have earned it an outstanding reputation among musicians and patrons alike. In addition to live music, The Kessler hosts art exhibitions and offers classes in both music and dance. As well as being located near the eateries and bars in Bishop Arts, visitors to the theater can enjoy drinks from a full service bar and gourmet snacks from a chef-driven kitchen.
