DUNE: The Graphic Novel, Book 1: Deluxe Collector's Edition (Signed Limited Edition) (Volume 1) Hardcover – November 23, 2021

4.7 4.7 out of 5 stars 2,746 ratings

The National Bestseller, Dune: The Graphic Novel, is now available in a deluxe collector's edition with an increased trim size of 7 1/2" x 11 1/4", printed on high-quality matte art paper, and a faux-cloth slipcase with gold foil stamping and tip on cover. A limited run of 250 copies include three different art prints in a protective sleeve, each signed by different members of the creative team—Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson, Raúl Allén and Patricia Martín, and Bill Sienkiewicz.

Dune, Frank Herbert’s epic science-fiction masterpiece set in the far future amidst a sprawling feudal interstellar society, tells the story of Paul Atreides as he and his family accept control of the desert planet Arrakis. A stunning blend of adventure and mysticism, environmentalism, and politics, Dune is a powerful, fantastical tale that takes an unprecedented look into our universe, and is transformed by the graphic novel format. Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson’s adaptation retains the integrity of the original novel, and Raúl Allén and Patricia Martín’s magnificent illustrations, along with cover art by Bill Sienkiewicz, bring the book to life for a new generation of readers.

This is well crafted novel. The art work suits the tale perfectly. It's raw and descriptive. For those who haven't read the original book. This novel gives you a condensed version of the story, with all of the important things still in tack.

I'm new to the Dune fandom. I started with the new movies and am obsessed, and now I'm working on the graphic novels. By comparison, I think the movie does a better job of developing the spiritualism (in the graphic novel, Paul's "awakening" comes suddenly, and a bunch of revelations are dumped in one scene). The graphic novel, however, conveys much more of the politics. A great read overall, and I'll definitely be continuing the series.

CW: moderate violence, spiritualism

I'm no graphic novel kind of guy, but recently I've been unhealthily obsessed with Dune. I've read the first three books, and I loved it, so I decided to get this, and it certainly was a really fun read. The illustrations are really great, and it is a very faithful adaptation. If you love graphic novels, you're probably gonna love this.

The DUNE saga is a masterpiece of science fiction. It is a timeless bittersweet space opera that gets better each time I revisit it. And yet, adapting it is a challenge in it of itself. Each adaptation suffers from the biases, taboos, trends of its respective eras. This is not the fault of the directors or even the defenders of each live action adaptation, it is just the way things are - and moreover the hollow industry of American media is.
And yet, here comes another medium which does the unthinkable. It adapts Dune masterfully, missing almost nothing which made the first book so special.

If you liked the previous adaptations and enjoyed the latest film series of Dune but were left wanting more or wondering how this epic telling in the future far, far away further unravels and the roots behind prophecies, the politics, mysteries of the known universe, but don't have time for listening to the audio book or reading the book, I recommend this graphic novel series.

It is my fault that I did not understand the product description. I intended to replace book 1 of Frank Herbert’s Dune series. We have 2-4 but book 1 was read by so many that it fell apart in the early 1980s and was disposed of. This is a hard cover beautifully done “comic book” form. I have gifted it to someone who will appreciate it and will search for Herbert’s original book 1/Dune.
