SAWDON, Robert H. “Bob” - Of Montrose, age 95, died peacefully at home surrounded by family at his side on Tuesday, July 16, 2024.
Funeral service will be held 1pm Saturday, July 20, 2024 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint, Pastor Mike Perez officiating.
Visitation 4-8pm Friday and 11am Saturday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Montrose Global Church Funeral Dinner Committee or a charity of one’s choice.
Bob was born in Capac, Michigan on May 22, 1929, the son of the late William and Wilda (Huston) Sawdon. On February 5, 1949, he married his high school sweetheart, Jean Smith in St. Clair, Michigan and raised their family in Burton. He loved to bowl, enjoyed spending time at the lake in Cedar Shores, making things from wood, and watching the birds and wildlife. Bob was president of Local #581 Retirees for many years and enjoyed camping with family and friends from NCHA. Mr. Sawdon was employed by Fisher Body retiring after 30 years. He and Jean then became truck drivers for North American Van Lines and traveled the country for 3 years.
Surviving are children, Charles (Jennifer) Sawdon, Diana (John) Sparks, Rick (Priscilla) Sawdon, Dennis Sawdon;
10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren;
brothers, Bruce Sawdon and Brian Sawdon;
sisters, Bonnie Williamson and Bernice Biehn;
many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean, son, Robert A., great-grandson, Matthew, daughter-in-law, Jeana Sawdon, brothers, Bill and Bernard and sisters, Betty McAlpine, Barb Springer, Beverly Phillips and Brenda Ellis.
