The paymaster sends to the city for a detective and is surprised when a young woman responds. She gathers clues which point to Jud, and then cleverly traps him as he is visiting the hiding place of the money in the woods. A thrilling scene is shown as the woman cautiously fences with her wits with the desperate man to throw him off his guard, but she finally gets the drop on him and marches him off at the point of a pistol to the sheriff's office.
