Saw The Substance last night. Demi Moore is amazing, but I think we can throw any expectations that this movie will be an Oscar contender out the window. It’s the weirdest thing I’ve seen since Titane, and in terms of pure camp satire freakiness, it skyrockets past even that. Moore maybe gets a Globe nod (though I think Comedy would be a better submission than Drama), but I think that’s her ceiling.

Yeah people need to remember this isn’t your typical biopic, but a Larrain one. Besides, both Spencer and Jackie did far better with critics and Maria is already an outlier in that department. If there’s anything at all then it’s Actress because of Angelina’s clout.

I know this is an unpopular opinion but Saoirse Ronan with Blitz and The Outrun reminds me of Kate Winslet with The Reader and Revolutionary Road. I think she could win, and maybe not for the film many think is her strongest or most prominent performance.
