Filmed in 1983 and not released until 1987, the Thanksgiving slasher Blood Rage (watch it Here) slipped past many horror fans when it first came out. But now that it has entered the streaming age and even been presented by Joe Bob Briggs on Shudder, Blood Rage has found an appreciative audience – and we’re diving into the film with the new episode of the Real Slashers video series! You can check it out in the embed above.
Also known as Nightmare at Shadow Woods, Blood Rage was directed by John Grissmer from a screenplay by Bruce Rubin. The film has the following synopsis:
Todd and Terry are twins – blonde, cute as buttons, bright and identical in every respect, with one exception. One of them is a murderer. It all started one night at a drive-in when a teenager was slaughtered in the back seat of his car while his girlfriend watched.

Research shows that summer camps for kids with pediatric cancer can strengthen social skills and self-esteem and facilitate moments of needed respite.
Northwestern Mutual, through its Foundation and in collaboration with Lollipop Theater Network, recently hosted The Ultimate Camp-In, a one-of-a-kind at-home virtual camp experience bringing together hundreds of children and families affected by childhood cancer. Complete with star power from camp “counselors,” the Ultimate Camp-In was a memorable day of connection and carefree adventure for families facing similar challenges.
By collaborating with Lollipop Theater Network, a non-profit dedicated to bringing movies and entertainment to children in hospitals due to chronic or life-threatening illnesses, the pastime of camp was transformed into a virtual experience enjoyed in homes across the country, creating connection in the age of social distancing.
The event kicked off Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, a time to support those affected, while also raising awareness and funds for research and cures.

Twins Todd and Terry appear at first to be just two sweet boys, until one day one of them decides to take an axe to the face of a drive-in patron. When Todd is blamed for it and institutionalised, Terry gets to live a normal life. As the two reach childhood though the truth comes out as to who was to blame, though his mother (Louise Lasser) refuses to accept the truth.
The 80s are often looked back at nostalgically when it comes to horror, especially for slasher movies. Many imitated the success of films like Halloween, Friday the 13th and A Nightmare on Elm Street, but failed to find the same success. Blood Rage is...

Toronto (Reuters) - Madonna may have stolen the lion's share of the headlines, but there were plenty of films by women directors earning a lot of buzz at this year's Toronto International Film Festival, which draws to a close on Sunday.
From the invention of the vibrator to the aftermath of a school massacre, women brought comedy and complexity to the event that helps launch Hollywood's Oscar season.
From Madonna's "W.E." to Sarah Polley's "Take This Waltz", many of the films delved into familiar themes of relationships, marriage and children, but it is unfair to label them as "chick flicks", said Canadian actress and director Polley.
"If you make a movie about a woman, whether it's by a woman or from the perspective of woman, then it's (labeled) a 'chick flick,'" she said. "But there's no matching marginalizing term to talk about a movie that stars a man.

Toronto (Reuters) - Ambition and folk art collide in director Jim Field Smith's comedy, "Butter," which uses a state fair butter carving competition to satirize the divisiveness of American politics.
The British comedian-turned-filmmaker crafts the story of Laura Pickler, a woman who steps into her husband's shoes as a competitive butter sculptor after he is pressured into retirement in order to give someone else a chance to win.
For Pickler, played with pitbull edge by Jennifer Garner, being the better half of Iowa's most popular butter artist is just the first step toward an eventual future in politics.
But standing between her and the Governor's mansion is Destiny; a young, black foster child whose prodigal talent and passion for butter carving whip the crowd, and local judges, into a frenzy. It's up to Pickler to put Destiny down.
"To a certain extent it's about ambition," Field Smith told Reuters.

Toronto (Reuters) - To say Toronto was abuzz with "Hysteria" would be an understatement.
The film, which is based on the true story of the first electronic vibrator's invention in the 1880s, premieres at the Toronto International Film Festival on Thursday but even before the curtain rose, the movie's stars and director had reporters laughing at a news conference.
Maggie Gyllenhaal, who portrays one of the key characters, said that among the best perks of the job was all the unsolicited "gifts" she received while shooting in London.
"By the time I finished the movie I'd been sent maybe 15 vibrators by different people in London with vibrator stores," said Gyllenhaal. "It was a pleasant surprise."
"It's been happening to me my whole career," joked the film's lead actor, Hugh Dancy, to peals of laughter from the gathered press.
Joking aside, Gyllenhaal said the film presented a serious...

Toronto (Reuters) - With her new drama "In Darkness" Agnieszka Holland has returned to her native Poland to produce a haunting portrait of the Holocaust that could net the veteran director another Oscar nod.
The film, which had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival this week, tells the true story of a group of Jews that hid for 14 months in the sewers beneath the then-Polish city of Lvov during World War II.
Shot in Polish and German, Holland said that while a film made in English would likely reach a wider audience, she wanted to make a Holocaust movie that was as faithful to the truth as possible.
"I felt that if I have to, if I want to, if I must do another movie which touches this theme, it has to be more realistic," she said. "I felt this story, for some reason,...

Toronto (Reuters) - Spies and assassins will get moviegoers' adrenaline pumping at the Toronto International Film Festival this year, while the world premiere of a Winnie Mandela biopic brings a political edge to the event.
The 10-day festival opens on September 8 and will close with David Hare's "Page Eight", a contemporary spy film that casts a critical eye on modern intelligence practices.
The drama, which stars Bill Nighy, Michael Gambon and Rachel Weisz, was one of eight new gala screenings announced by festival organizers on Tuesday.
The festival, which serves as a launch pad for movies looking for attention in Hollywood's Oscar season, also will host the world premiere of the highly-anticipated biopic "Winnie", starring Oscar-winner Jennifer Hudson as Winnie Mandela and recounting the South African politician's true-life love story with Nelson Mandela as they fought for democracy.

Lady Gaga makes a point of taking care of her "little monsters." That explains why the singer took time out from her busy touring and recording schedule on Wednesday to voice her support for 15-year-old Tennessee high school student Cole Goforth, who was sent home by officials at Greenbrier High School for wearing a T-shirt with the slogan "I Heart Lady Gay Gay."
"Thank u for wearing your tee-shirt proud at school, you make me so proud, at the monsterball, you are an inspiration to us all. I love you," Gaga tweeted on Wednesday, explaining that she'd been in the studio "for days and hours of record after record" when she heard one of her monsters was being discriminated against by teachers.
