Fair Play is a 2023 thriller film written and directed by Chloe Domont. The film stars Phoebe Dynevor, Alden Ehrenreich, Eddie Marsan, and Rich Sommer.
“Fair Play” is a movie about ambition and how a professional relationship can affect a romantic relationship. In every place, there is an expression for this that ultimately recommends the same thing: not mixing love and work.
It’s difficult not to do so when, as in this case, both protagonists work ten hours a day and have no time for anything else but the company.
Plot
Emily and Luke are engaged, attractive, and have a promising future. There’s only one problem: they work at the same company, and company protocol doesn’t accept it. The problem arises when she gets promoted and he slowly starts losing his position in the complex corporate organization.

Filmmaker Joe Weiland’s directorial debut Gorka is a short comedy drama about Gorka, a French exchange student who has arrived in the UK to see what England has to offer. Quickly, however, upon his arrival, his plans of exploration are pushed to the wayside as the English family he’s been partnered with experience a major tragedy. It’s from here on out that Weiland’s film takes off and his portrayal of the importance of human connection during strange, dysfunctional times begins. Weiland brings a buoyant Britishness to his short, which showcases the title character’s world through bright-coloured, open frames as he takes in the odd seaside environment that is Bognor Regis. As the film sets sail for its festival run, which kicks off with the Oscar-qualifying Provincetown Film Festival, Dn caught up with Weiland to talk over the personal genesis of the short, his background studying screenwriting at AFI,...

At least twenty fine actors and stars make Robert Altman’s period piece about a party in a big English country house into a gala occasion. The show is also a fascinating entree into a classed world of masters and servants. The drama of manners could also be described as a mystery who-dunnit. Either way, we’re floored by excellent work from a stellar cast.

Goodbye Christopher Robin is a film that tells the story behind the creation of the beloved characters of Winnie The Pooh. It follows the lives of author A.A. Milne (Domhnall Gleeson) and his wife Daphne (Margot Robbie) as they raise their son Christopher Robin (Will Tilston). It looks like a wonderful imaginative film that is beautifully shot. It's set after World War I and follows the family as they find fame and success with Pooh. At the core, this is a father and son story.
The movie was directed by Simon Curtis (My Week With Marilyn, Woman in Gold) and today we have the first trailer for you to watch. But first, here's the official synopsis:
Goodbye Christopher Robin gives a rare glimpse into the relationship between beloved children's author A. A. Milne (Domhnall Gleeson) and his son Christopher Robin, whose toys inspired the magical world of Winnie the Pooh.

We’ve seen many variations of the animated Winnie the Pooh, but now he’s coming to life in a new feature — or more precisely, how he came to life is captured. Goodbye Christopher Robin follows author A.A. Milne (Domhnall Gleeson) and his wife Daphne (Margot Robbie) as they raise their son Christopher Robin (Will Tilston). Directed by Simon Curtis (My Week With Marilyn, Woman in Gold), the first trailer has landed today ahead of a fall release.
Scripted by Frank Cottrell Boyce and Simon Vaughn, the film explores the Milne family as they encounter fame following World War I and specifically the father-son relationship at the center. Judging from the first preview, it’s as saccharine as you’d expect from this director, but hopefully the emotions are earned. Check out the trailer and poster below for the film also starring Kelly Macdonald, Stephen Campbell Moore, Alex Lawther, Richard McCabe,...

We first reported on the production of John Jencks’ big screen adaptation of Stephen Fry’s The Hippopotamus back in 2015, when a single image was released. Since then we’ve heard almost nothing to sate our desire for big screen Fry. Until today that is, as we have finally got a first look at film’s trailer.
Blanche McIntyre and Tom Hodgson adapted Fry’s 1994 novel for Jencks to make his second feature film. A suitably sozzled-looking Roger Allam leads the the cast which include Matthew Modine, Tim McInnerny, Tommy Knight, Geraldine Somerville, Fiona Shaw and Emily Berrington.
We’ve got our look at the first trailer for The Hippopotamus from the Palm Springs Film Festival where the film has its North American premiere on the 14th of January, with another screening on the 15th. There are no details about a festival debut on this side of the pond,...

“Finding Neverland” turned the creation of “Peter Pan” into an Oscar-nominated drama back in 2004, and Fox Searchlight is surely hoping that’s the case for its upcoming A.A. Milne biopic. The author created the children’s classic “Winnie the Pooh,” and he’ll be the subject of the untitled drama that will also focus on the coming-of-age of Milne’s son, Christopher Robbin. Fox Searchlight has announced production is officially underway in Oxfordshire, Surrey, East Sussex and London, and some new first look photos have debuted on USA Today to mark the occasion.

Winnie the Pooh has seen a number of iterations over the years, but now he’s getting his own biopic of sorts. More precisely, it follows author A.A. Milne (Domhnall Gleeson) and his wife Daphne (Margot Robbie) as they raise their son Christopher Robin (Will Tilston). Once titled Goodbye Christopher Robin and currently going by the hopefully soon-to-be-changed The Untitled A.A. Milne Project, the first images have now arrived.
Scripted by Frank Cottrell Boyce and Simon Vaughn, the film explores the Milne family as they encounter fame following World War I and specifically the father-son relationship at the center. With production kicking off in London, Fox Searchlight has the distribution rights, which we imagine they’ll take advantage of for a 2017 release.
Check out the new images above and below (via The Telegraph) for what should make a fine double feature with Alex Ross Perry’s upcoming film.

'Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban' poster. With Daniel Radcliffe. Rupert Grint. Emma Watson. 'Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban' quiz question: Does state-of-the-art CGI equal movie magic? (Oscar Movie Series) Alfonso Cuarón seems like an odd choice for director of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, the third installment in the Harry Potter movie series. That is, if one thinks only of Cuarón's pre-Harry Potter sleeper hit, the François Truffaut-esque Y tu mamá también, while ignoring two of his earlier efforts, the critically acclaimed A Little Princess and the moderately respected Great Expectations. This time around, working with a reported $130 million budget (approx. $163 million in 2015), state-of-the-art special effects, and the Harry Potter franchise, Cuarón surely could do no wrong. At the box office, that is. For although Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban is stylistically superior to Chris Columbus' previous work in the series,...

‘Grace of Monaco’ U.S. March release canceled as biopic starring Nicole Kidman as Grace Kelly to open 2014 Cannes Film Festival (photo: Nicole Kidman as Grace Kelly in ‘Grace of Monaco’) Directed by Olivier Dahan, and starring Nicole Kidman as Oscar-winning Hollywood actress-turned-European princess Grace Kelly, Grace of Monaco was to have been a (possibly) strong Oscar 2014 contender — at least in the Best Actress category. After all, Dahan had guided 2007 Best Actress Academy Award winner Marion Cotillard as Edith Piaf in La Vie en Rose; Nicole Kidman is a respected actress with one Academy Award win (for Stephen Daldry’s The Hours) and two nominations (Moulin Rouge!, Rabbit Hole); and, last but certainly not least, Grace of Monaco was to have been released in North America by the Oscar-savvy The Weinstein Company. However, Harvey Weinstein was reportedly unhappy with Olivier Dahan’s final cut, and demanded that Grace of Monaco be reedited.

Olivier Dahan‘s upcoming biopic Grace of Monaco has our full attention mostly because Nicole Kidman is already on board to star as Grace Kelly. But that’s about to change, because we’ve just learned that Roger Ashton-Griffiths, Robert Lindsay and Geraldine Somerville have joined the whole thing as well!
The good thing is that this movie is currently shooting in France, so I guess we’ll soon have more material to share with you. But, at this moment, let’s have a few words about the new cast members.
As we said, Kidman portrays Kelly, the retired Oscar-winning actress who has a difficult job to save Monaco from an escalating situation regarding its standing as a tax haven.
Now, Ashton-Griffiths joins her as Alfred Hitchcock, who has a different plans with Hollywood star – he wants her to come out of retirement and star in his new movie.

On the Road movie reedited for Toronto screening Based on Jack Kerouac's '50s novel, Walter Salles' Otr adaptation starring Garrett Hedlund, Sam Riley, and Kristen Stewart (above photo) will be screened at the upcoming Toronto Film Festival. We all knew that. What we didn't know is that Tiff 2012 will unveil a new cut of the film (via indieWIRE), which premiered last spring at the Cannes Film Festival to mixed reviews. The 2hr20m drama has been downsized to approximately 125 minutes. That's an interesting development, as Otr has already been screened in several countries, with varying degrees of box-office success. [Check out the On the Road trailer. Check out Kristen Stewart On the Road poster; Garrett Hedlund On the Road poster.] Otr movie reedit hardly unique On the other hand, different cuts shown in different countries is hardly something new. Whether as a result of poor critical/box-office reception, (perceived) local sensibilities, and/or censorship, the movie you watch in, say, Canada isn't necessarily the exact same movie watched by someone in Singapore,...

The Rms Titanic maritime disaster has been given yet another on-screen treatment, this time from Julian Fellowes, the creator of hit British import "Downton Abbey." In fact, due to Fellowes' involvement and the fact that "Titanic" focuses on all the different classes that were on board the ill-fated ship, some people have taken to referring to "Titanic" as "Downton at Sea." Star Linus Roache, who plays the upper-class Earl of Manton, tells Zap2it that's not exactly what it is.
"It's not 'Downton at Sea.' 'Downton Abbey' just deals mostly with two levels of society ... whereas this ship, this story, deals with so many different layers," says Roache. "You've got four or five layers. And you're bringing in an international dimension because you've got the Irish, how they relate to the Italians. It's really like viewing the world at that time."
Another obvious comparison that has been made is...

The trick to engaging a worldwide audience for "Titanic," ABC's miniseries premiering Saturday, April 14, and concluding the next night on the 100th anniversary of the ship's sinking, is to go beyond the tragedy's basics.
Everyone knows how a series of worst-case scenarios led to the sinking of what was supposedly the best and most luxurious ocean liner ever. The goal is to tell this story in a new way.
And "Titanic" succeeds terrifically. This isn't trying to be James Cameron's "Titanic," the 1997 phenomenon that captured 11 Oscars. There have been so many films and documentaries, but this one stands apart.
Granted, the facts must stay the same, but what this production does is blend actual and fictional characters and show the disaster from different vantage points. It's a masterful reimagining by writer Julian Fellowes (Academy Award for "Gosford Park," Emmy for "Downton Abbey").

The actor on why Julian Fellowes' Titanic was a welcome berth in icy waters
Geraldine Somerville spent a lot of time during the shoot for the ITV series Titanic being extremely damp. "It was really challenging," she says, recalling the filming in Budapest, where the largest indoor water tank in Europe (900 sq m) had been specially constructed. "It was boiling, boiling hot weather and we were trying to pretend we were really, really cold… When we were in the water tanks, you saw the steam rising around us. We stank. There was something in the lifejackets which, when we sweated, it was horrible – like hamster cages that haven't been cleaned out."
Such indignities aside, Somerville, 44, enjoyed her time on set playing the snobbish Countess of Manton in Julian Fellowes's dramatisation to mark the 100th anniversary of the liner's sinking. It is his first project for ITV since Downton Abbey...

Chicago – Last year’s slate of Best Actress Oscar-nominees was among the weakest in recent memory. There was no clear front-runner since there was no picture worthy of the exemplary actress at its core. From Meryl Streep in “The Iron Lady” to Glenn Close in “Albert Nobbs,” 2011 deserves to be remembered as the year of great female performances trapped in subpar material.
Perhaps the most frustrating misuse of talent is contained within TV veteran Simon Curtis’s feature debut, “My Week with Marilyn,” an adaptation of a memoir written by Colin Clark, who served as Third Assistant Director on the set of 1956’s unremarkable romance, “The Prince and the Showgirl.” The film was most famous for teaming up the unlikely duo of Sir Laurence Olivier and Marilyn Monroe, who would subsequently go on to deliver some of the most acclaimed work of their careers.

Martin Scorsese/Hugo Surges on Thursday, Michelle Williams/My Week With Marilyn Soft Bow: Box Office
Asa Butterfield, Chloë Grace Moretz in Martin Scorsese's Hugo Kristen Stewart/Robert Pattinson's Breaking Dawn to Pass $200 Million, Still Behind New Moon: Box Office Martin Scorsese's Hugo, a 3D fantasy drama about English-speaking French families, was no. 3 on Thursday after debuting at no. 7 on Wednesday, according to Box Office Mojo. At 1,277 theaters, Hugo brought in $2.34m, for a per-site average of $1,834. That's really not all that great, especially for a well-received and (costlier) 3D movie showing at a little over one third of the 3,440 locations showing The Muppets — which averaged $1,715. (All things being equal, the fewer the number of theaters, the higher the per-theater average should be.) Hugo, which was made for "less than $150 million" as per producer Graham King, is expected to gross up to $14m by Sunday evening. For the movie to break even (not including marketing/distribution expenses), its actual cost must have been way less than $150 million.
