The legacy of the late Ivan Reitman lives on with “Ghostbusters: Afterlife” (Sony/$5.99) for which he was the sole producer, repeated at #1 on all VOD charts this week. Its recent reduced price sustained a successful multi-platform run ($200 million theatrical worldwide) for a $75 million production.
The film was directed by his son and reflects a return to box office form for both. Reitman père had more than 20 projects in varying stages of development. “Afterlife” showed he remained vital in comedy, a genre that gets short shrift in theaters today.
VOD charts showed little change this week, including any impact from last Tuesday’s Oscar nominations. “Dune” (Warner Bros./$5.99) rose from last week, taking two #2 slots and placing on all three. The only other films among the top contenders to appear are “King Richard” (Warner Bros./$19.99), which is #7 at Vudu, and “Belfast” (Focus/$19.99), #10 at iTunes.

Ah, "Tall Girl," the much-discussed Netflix coming-of-age film that sounds like a fake movie from "30 Rock." The film was on the receiving end of a lot of jokes when it debuted in 2019, but a new trailer for "Tall Girl 2" proves the first one wasn't actually a fever dream I had but, in fact, a real movie.
Despite the title, the new trailer for "Tall Girl 2" veers away from its central character's height, instead focusing on her friendships, romances, and lead role in a school production of "Bye, Bye Birdie." The first "Tall Girl" movie was all about Jodi's (Ava Michelle)...

Netflix continues to bet big on kids and family programming. The streaming service announced on Friday it optioned the rights to Annie Barrows’ illustrated children’s book series “Ivy & Bean” and plans to make them into movies.
The live-action films will be one-hour in length and geared toward family audiences. Kathy Waugh is writing the movies.
“With a one-hour run-time, the ‘Ivy & Bean’ film series will still very much be movies the whole family can enjoy,” said Netflix’s Director of Family Features Naketha Mattocks. “Safe, fun and elevated comedy-adventures, they also have the wonderful benefit of giving the youngest members of the family an opportunity to see themselves as the star of their own story.”
“Ivy & Bean” follows two unlikely friends — the loud and fearless Bean, and the thoughtful and quiet Ivy. Yet the two discover that an adventure can reveal that even seemingly different people can become the best of friends.

The Upside Down delivered upside for Netflix in the third quarter: “Stranger Things” season 3 was the most-watched season of the series to date, according to the streamer.
In the first four weeks of release, “Stranger Things” season 3 was watched by 64 million member households, Netflix said in the Q3 letter to shareholders. The company previously boasted that 40.7 million accounts watched the show in the first four days of its July 4 debut, marking its biggest-ever audience for a movie or TV series in a four-day window.
What’s important to note: The data isn’t independently verifiable. Moreover, Netflix records a “view” of a series if a member account watches just one episode to at least 70% completion.
Still, according to measurement and ratings firm Nielsen, “Stranger Things 3” is the most-watched Netflix original it has analyzed over past two years — at least, over the initial four days of release. From July 4th to 7th,...

Netflix said on Wednesday that Season 3 of Stranger Things was viewed by 64 million households in its first four weeks on the platform, the hit series’ best numbers to date. The revelation came as the streaming service reported better third-quarter earnings that mostly beat Wall Street estimates.
Last month, Netflix re-upped for another trip into the Upside Down, renewing its flagship series for Season 4 and signing series creators/showrunners the Duffer Brothers to a big multiyear overall deal.
As per usual, Netflix used its quarterly investor letter to unpack some of the data related to its original series and movies. Also notable in today’s letter is viewership of its limited series Unbelievable (32 million households in first 28 days) and its family film Tall Girl, starring Ava Michelle, which drew 41M households in its first 28 days.

Hold on! In a world plagued by problems such as nuclear warfare and cancer we are supposed to sympathise with a girl simply because she is taller than her friends?!
The absurdity doesn't end there. This is just the beginning. All of Jodie's friends make 'tall' jokes and reduce her self esteem to smithereens. Boo hoo.
With friends like these, "Tall Girl" is easily the stupidest film I've seen in years. It may think being inane is being equivalent to being young. But the young today cannot be treated as dimwits just because it suits a certain audience demographic that exists only in the marketing factory's mind.
Unlike "Eighth Grade", "Ingrid Goes West" or even "Booksmart", recent films that tried to enter the pre-adult American girl's mindzone, "Tall Girl" is a furiously idiotic girl-in-a-spin saga, tacky in its ideology and tattered in its plot construction.

Tall Girl is the latest teen rom-com from Netflix and comes from first-time director Nzingha Stewart and first-time screenwriter Sam Wolfson. Ava Michelle stars and is joined by Steve Zahn, Angela Kinsey, Luke Eisner, and Griffin Gluck. The dramedy follows the tallest girl in high school as she struggles to maneuver the social pressures of high school. Netflix has made a lot of movies like this, but how does this Netflix original compare to the others in the streaming service’s original catalog? Does it fall short, or does it stand tall in comparison?

Being the tallest girl in school definitely limits your romantic prospects. However, when your school gets a new Swedish exchange student who is both tall and devastatingly hot, your prospects suddenly aren't looking so bad. Netflix's latest rom-com, Tall Girl, stars beautiful dancer Ava Michelle as a high schooler who, due to her 6'1" height, can't manage to find a boyfriend - that is, until she meets 6'2" Stig, played by Luke Eisner.
Who is Luke Eisner, you ask? This may be his first Netflix movie, but it isn't his first Netflix project - he appears as Cody in an episode of Netflix's new sitcom Family Reunion. The 23-year-old actor also happens to be both a musician and a model, having landed campaigns with H&m, American Eagle, Calvin Klein, and Ralph Lauren. Does he sound too good to be true? Just wait until you see these sexy photos of him.

To add to the list of teen-flicks we will be shamelessly watching on Netflix, Tall Girl, starring Ava Michelle, is upon us. The Netflix original movie follows the life of Jodi (played by Michelle), who is the tallest girl in her high school at just 16 years old. With Ava towering over all of her costars (aka classmates) in the film, it makes you wonder if she is that tall in real life or if it's some sort of movie magic mind trick. So, how tall is Ava from Tall Girl? According to her Instagram bio, 6'1" to be exact - just like Jodi in the Netflix original.
At just 17 years old, Michelle is an actress, dancer (she appeared on a few episodes of Dance Moms back in the day), model, and singer-songwriter, and despite the character she plays in Tall Girl, she appears to be embracing all 73 inches of her height to the fullest.

I’ve got a trailer for you to check out for the upcoming Netfllix movie Tall Girl. The film follows a high school girl named Jodi (Ava Michelle) who is six foot one and clearly stands out in the crowd. She is trying to get through life, all while being made fun of, always being noticed but never for the right reasons, and comparing herself to the more petite girls, like her beautiful sister.
There is one boy who has loved her since grade school (Griffin Gluck), but she just can’t get beyond the height difference. She thinks all is lost until the new, tall, exchange student shows up, and helps her to start thinking differently about herself.
Jodi, the tallest girl in her high school, has always felt uncomfortable in her own skin. But after years of slouching, being made fun of, and avoiding attention at all costs,...

Netflix is slowly but surely solidifying itself as the buzziest destination for new, original romantic comedies, and the latest addition to its collection looks promising: Tall Girl.
The upcoming film stars Ava Michelle as Jodi, a 6'1" 16-year-old who's always been uncomfortable with how her height makes her stand out from the rest of her classmates, even with the love and support of her two best friends. Constantly bummed out because there are no guys taller than her in school, things start looking up when handsome (and very tall!) exchange student Stig (Luke Eisner) arrives and seems interested in her. With the help of her beauty queen older sister Harper (The Hate U Give's Sabrina Carpenter), Jodi gets a makeover of not only her outward appearance, but also her inner confidence (aww).
The film, which hails from director Nzingha Stewart, also stars Angela Kinsey and Steve Zahn as Jodi and Harper's parents.

"Face your fears, Jodi." Netflix has debuted an official trailer for a drama titled Tall Girl, which is indeed about a tall girl. What an original name for this. Ava Michelle stars as Jodi, a girl in high school who is 73 inches tall - 6', 1". She's always been uncomfortable with it. After slouching her way through life for 16 years and being made fun of by classmates, Jodi meets Stig, a seemingly perfect Swedish foreign exchange student who's even taller than she is. Jodi's new crush turns her world upside down and throws her into a surprising love triangle. The cast includes Luke Eisner, Griffin Gluck, Sabrina Carpenter, Paris Berelc, Steve Zahn, Angela Kinsey, and Anjelika Washington. At first glance, this doesn't look any good - so campy.
