A french farce. When a paris museum is robbed, thieves steal a statue which had been taken from the tribe years before. And the statue is cursed! So when one of the museum employees (agnès) gets kidnapped, her boyfriend (adrien), who happens to be home on leave, must go rescue her. Off to rio! Lots of slapstick and sight gags. So many lucky coincidences! But it's mostly fun. Chase scenes, quick moving. LOVE the little boy's house! All the furniture that drops down when you need it. Very clever. Directed by philippe de broca. The film was nominated for best story/screenplay. The version currently on tubi is almost 116 minutes, while the entry in imdb shows 112 minutes. The trivia section does talk about a shortened version. It's long, but mostly fun to watch!
