‘Industry’ has heretofore arrived on HBO at 9 p.m. Et, but that will change thanks to ‘The Penguin.’
Surely the characters of a title like “Industry” wouldn’t object to a little intra-company betrayal, would they? “Betrayal” might be a strong word, but at the very least it can be said that “Industry” is being forced to show a lot of deference to “The Penguin.” The new crime thriller set in the DC Comics universe debuts on HBO and Max on Thursday, Sept. 19, but will impact when you can watch “Industry” on Sundays. The prestige drama is shifting time slots to make room for “The Penguin,” and we’ve got all the details you need to follow the show to its new time below.
Key Details: The final two episodes of “Industry” are still set to air on Sept. 22 and Sept. 29, respectively. The show is shifting from a 9 p.m.

It's the season of the villains in the world of comic book adaptations. Fresh off the release of Marvel Studios' Agatha All Along comes The Penguin, bringing one of DC's greatest antagonists to the small screen. And let's not forget that DC Studios will also be releasing Joker: Folie à Deux in theaters this year.
But right now, Gotham City belongs to The Penguin - or at least it will when he builds his criminal empire. The upcoming HBO and Max series is a spinoff of Matt Reeves' The Batman, the critically-acclaimed 2022 movie which starred Robert Pattinson as The Dark Knight. Colin Farrell reprises his role as Oswald Cobblepot - or Oz Cobb as this universe calls him - as the character attempts to make a name for himself in a city without a crime boss; a city that is vulnerable after The Riddler's attack.

There’s no character in House of the Dragon so hated by fans other than Ser Criston Cole. Fabien Frankel played the role so effectively that everyone who had a crush on him instantly changed their mind. They even nicknamed him Crispy Cole, but this was more of Daemon Targaryen’s doing.
Credits: Fabien Frankel and Matt Smith in House of the Dragon / HBO
Remember their first scene in the prequel series? Criston and Daemon battled each other at the tournament held in the first season in honor of King Viserys’ ninth year of ruling at King’s Landing and to welcome the birth of Prince Baelon Targaryen. It was quite a short fight, but many things happened behind the scenes.

Warner Bros. Discovery will give Max, its enhanced streaming service, its first outing in the Asia-Pacific region beginning next week in a partnership with Japan’s U-Next.
As in Europe and other territories where it has already launched, Max represents both a wider content offering to Japanese viewers than forerunner HBO and a technological upgrade. However, the Max app, which will offer even more functionality, is not yet being launched in the Japan market.
From Wednesday next week, Max on U-Next will be available as a branded environment, with its own user interface, within the Japanese streaming platform. It will offer more than 16,000 episodes of over 2,500 titles from Wbd’s entertainment brands, including HBO, Harry Potter, the DC universe, Warner Bros., Cartoon Network, Discovery Channel and Animal Planet.
The deal between the two groups also includes Wbd acquiring Japanese content in tandem with U-Next for distribution on Max globally.

Many fans must have been waiting to see the cast of HBO’s House of the Dragon at the 2024 Emmy Awards night, but unfortunately, none of them went to celebrate the event. In fact, not even one was expected to represent the fantasy series as the Television Academy barred the prequel show from eligibility this year.

Fret not – neither the show nor the cast has some controversial issues; it’s more of a technical reason. Apparently, the show didn’t make it on time to be able to get a nomination.

As per the rules and procedures of the Television Academy, all entries for different categories, be it drama, comedy, or reality, must have released a minimum of six episodes by May 31 in order to qualify for the year’s Emmy Awards.

House of the Dragon Season 2 ended with fans criticizing how the plot of the series was carried forward. So far, the show has had terrific overall reviews with Season 1 being better than the latest iteration. But there are major issues that need to be acknowledged by the writer of the show, Ryan Condal.

Game of Thrones is a brilliant retelling of George R.R. Martin’s legacy work, A Song of Ice and Fire. But HBO’s near-perfect piece of television suffered the disadvantage of plowing through seasons faster than Martin could say “Winds of Winter” (pun intended). The fantasy epic then learned the hard way what it meant to play god with the characters created by the author from his own subliminal imagination.
Game of Thrones Season 8 [Credit: HBO]
Ironically, the failures and shortcomings of Game of Thrones now allow George R.R. Martin to bypass the potential errors in his story completely. Instead, the author can use the HBO series as a lesson in what not to do while composing the final two novels in his A Song of Ice and Fire series – one of them being the controversially crafted ending of Daenerys Targaryen’s story.

[This story contains spoilers for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.]
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice star Arthur Conti went from zero to sixty in record time. The English actor turned the equivalent of a high school musical into representation, which led to a two-line day on House of the Dragon and an acclaimed performance at London’s Park Theatre. Toward the end of his run on stage in Winner’s Curse, he put himself on tape for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, the long-awaited sequel to Tim Burton and Michael Keaton’s 1988 genre mashup, Beetlejuice. Unexpectedly, Conti soon found himself in the middle of a Zoom callback with Burton and the town’s newly anointed superstar, Jenna Ortega.
Within two hours, Conti officially landed the role of Jeremy Frazier, who Ortega’s character, Astrid Deetz, would eventually refer to as her “date from hell.” Astrid — having been estranged from her mother, Lydia (Winona Ryder), since the divorce and death of her father Richard (Santiago Cabrera...

There was a time where the best sci-fi shows on TV weren't on Apple TV+, but on HBO, and a big part of this was due to "Westworld." Based on the 1973 film written and directed by Michael Crichton about a futuristic park filled with robots that eventually malfunction and start murdering the guests, the TV show would constantly throw out new sci-fi concepts, big-brain ideas, and wild plot twists that got fans talking — even if it did go off the rails every so often.
More than anything, "Westworld" was a gorgeous-looking series where the producers had clearly spared no expense (unlike the characters from that other famous Michael Crichton adaptation about a sci-fi theme park), with elaborate sets and exquisite production design. It was not an easy show to love, to quote /Film's own Danielle Ryan, but even in spite of the confusing timeline shenanigans and excess of plot twists,...

HBO Head Denies Divisive Reactions to House of the Dragon - Main Image

Fans certainly cannot wait for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight, the newest upcoming project from George R.R. Martin’s world of Game of Thrones. The story will follow Ser Duncan the Tall and his trusty squire, Prince Aegon Targaryen.

Game of Thrones introduced a whole new world to fans when it premiered in 2011, and television has never been the same since it not only became a pop culture phenomenon but a major game-changer in the art of storytelling and filmmaking.

Going into HBO's Game of Thrones prequel series House of the Dragon, Matt Smith — who plays mercurial warrior Daemon Targaryen — was the biggest name on the ticket. Many of the rest of the cast members were professional actors who were largely unknown to the wider public.
But that's changed now. Emma D'Arcy, who plays would-be queen Rhaenyra Targaryen, is probably the cast members who's broken out the most. They went viral for describing their favorite drink, their performance as Rhaenyra is nothing short of scintillating, and they give thoughtful responses in interviews that make them a joy to cover.
Fame has come pretty quickly for D'Arcy, but even so, apparently they haven't felt a full part of the Game of Thrones universe until now, as they told Muse Magazine. "I’m very grateful to have been entrusted with such a treasured and important character," D'Arcy said. "But for a long time,...

The other week, Game of Thrones creator George R.R. Martin went public with his criticisms of the second season of prequel series House of the Dragon, which is based on his book Fire & Blood. Writing on his blog, Martin took issue with the way the show is cutting important characters from the source material in ways that could negatively affect the story going forward, and hinted at much bigger complaints down the line.
Martin deleted the blog post soon after, so we may never know what those claims were. Still, he made waves; HBO tried to do some damage control, and now we fans just have to sit with the knowledge that the man who wrote the book on which House of the Dragon is based has huge problems with the show. It's awkward.
HBO CEO Casey Bloys downplayed the impact of Martin's comments when talking to Deadline about HBO's Emmy haul this past weekend.

Still, he made waves; HBO tried to do some damage control, and now we fans just have to sit with the knowledge that the man who wrote the book on which House of the Dragon is based has huge problems with the show. It's awkward.

The second season of House of the Dragon wrapped up last month, and if you're familiar with the source material — the book Fire & Blood by George R.R. Martin — you know that the show changed A Lot. It changed so much that Martin himself publicly criticized the show, opening up a rift we're not sure will ever be closed. Things are weird in this fandom right now.
In response to Martin's criticisms, HBO released a special podcast episode where House of the Dragon showrunner Ryan Condal defended some of his adaptation choices, including the choice to focus so much of the story on Rhaenyra Targaryen and Alicent Hightower. These two are important characters in the book, but are the main focus of the show. For example, during the stretch of story covered by season 2, Rhaenyra and Alicent don't meet, but in the show they meet twice. At one point Rhaenyra even...

George R.R. Martin expressed dismay over the changes made in Season 2 of House of the Dragon. The first episode alone had a massive and terrible change that will surely affect the rest of the story, but the succeeding episodes were all the more difficult to comprehend.

Take, for instance, Daemon Targaryen’s arc. The character had been going through strange hallucinations for the entire season, and while it was understandable that Harrenhal got him under a spell, it became too much. He lost a lot of significant screen time that could have been used for a much better purpose.

All’s well that ends well. With most of HBO’s existing Emmy juggernauts — The White Lotus, The Last of Us, House of the Dragon and Euphoria — not releasing new seasons during the 2024 Emmys’ qualifying window and Succession and Barry gone, the network had been bracing for tough year-to-year comparisons.
Somehow, however, HBO | Max, No. 3 in the overall 2024 distributor rankings behind FX and Netflix, walked away with a top program Emmy on Sunday, scoring an upset win in the final category, Outstanding Comedy Series, for Hacks. It was the first time the Max original went head-to-head with FX’s heavy favorite The Bear after a long break between Seasons 2 and 3.
That won’t be the case with Season 4 of Hacks, which is already in production. In an interview with Deadline at the HBO | Max Emmy afterparty Sunday night, Casey Bloys, Chairman and CEO, HBO and Max Content, spoke about Hacks‘ triple win — for Comedy Series,...

Even before Game of Thrones concluded in 2019 with its infamous season 8, HBO got the ball running on several Got spin-offs, but most of them never saw the light of day. Among these scrapped projects was Naomi Watts’ untitled prequel series, which was set to be helmed by Kingsman scribe Jane Goldman and author George R.R. Martin.

But as the story goes, like many other scrapped Got spin-offs, the project never took off, even though the pilot for the Watts-led prequel was already filmed.

“Shōgun” had already broken the Emmy record for most awards for a single season of TV before the Primetime Emmy broadcast even started on September 15. Its success in netting 18 awards, including Outstanding Drama Series, has not only paved the way for additional seasons of the FX series but hopefully even more TV stories told with the same level of detail, rigor, and cultural care that “Shōgun” applied to its look into power politics of 17th-century Japan.

Last month, HBO finished airing the second season of its Game of Thrones prequel series House of the Dragon. We know HBO has quite a few such spinoff series in the works, but the only other one we know is actually going to air is A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, based on the Dunk and Egg novellas by George R.R. Martin.
The Dunk & Egg novellas follow two main characters: a stalwart knight named Ser Duncan the Tall and his diminutive squire Egg. Filming on the first season of the show wrapped up just the other week, with star Dexter Sol Ansell — who plays Egg — celebrating with a little video goodbye to Belfast, where much of the series is shot:

Ahead of the premiere of House of the Dragon season 2, HBO rolled out a number of gorgeous promotional images of the characters raked by pain and anguish, appropriate since they were about to go head to head in a brutal civil war known as the Dance of the Dragons. It resulted in stark posters like this one of Rhaenyra Targaryen looking ashen and pained:

HBO released these images under the tagline "All Must Choose." Now, fans have found that photographer James Minchin has uploaded a bunch of other images that look like they're from that same batch, and they are gorgeous. Just look at Emma D'Arcy as Rhaenyra:

Even before the Emmys began Sunday, there wasn’t much question about which media conglomerate would end the night with the most awards. Led by 14 Creative Arts wins for Shogun, Disney had essentially an insurmountable lead in terms of awards won.
The only question was how much the Mouse House would run up the score. The answer: Quite a bit.
Led by Shogun and The Bear — which each won four awards at Sunday’s awards and set records for wins by a drama (18) and comedy (11) in a single year — FX-produced programs led all platforms with 36 wins at the 76th Emmy Awards. By itself, FX would have put Disney into first place among media conglomerates, but the company also took home 24 other awards for a record-breaking total of 60.
Netflix finished a distant second with 24 total wins across Sunday’s ceremony and last week’s Creative Arts awards — two more than at the 75th Emmys.

It took almost three hours for Emmy voters to render their verdict on the great “Bear” controversy, but that verdict came down clearly with the final award announced at the 76th Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday night.
“The Bear,” which had won 10 awards in January when the 75th Emmys were handed out, won another seven at last weekend’s Creative Arts Emmys and four more during Sunday’s show. But then, when Catherine O’Hara opened the envelope for the Outstanding Comedy Series Emmy that seemed all but certain to complete the FX show’s near-sweep of the comedy categories, she read the title “Hacks.”
How on earth could “The Bear” have done so well with voters and then lost the big award? What did “Hacks” have that it didn’t?
That’s easy: Humor.
Since “The Bear” first came on the air in 2022, it has been the subject of complaints...

“Shōgun” has fulfilled its destiny. After debuting to laudatory reviews, drawing strong ratings throughout its 10-episode run, and landing a (surprise) two-season renewal from FX, Rachel Kondo and Justin Marks’ historical epic took home the Emmy for Best Drama Series at Sunday night’s ceremony. The win capped off a record-shattering run, in which “Shōgun” landed 25 nominations in 22 categories and obliterated the former record for most Emmys won in a single season with 18 Emmys.
Though some expected “Shōgun” to do well at this year’s Emmys, few anticipated such unprecedented totals. The series tallied 14 wins before the Primetime Emmy ceremony even started, and “Shōgun’s” four wins on Sunday for a total of 18 wins ended up besting a number of Emmy records, including:
most Emmys won by a series in a single season. most Emmys won by a series in its first season. most Emmys won by any series in a single season.

The hit HBO series "Game of Thrones" has a bit of a complicated legacy, with a final season that disappointed many critics and fans, especially those who had developed their own elaborate theories for how it would all end. It was easy to become attached to the many characters who inhabited the fantasy lands of Westeros and Essos, and it could be deeply frustrating when it felt like the writers or showrunners didn't understand them in the same way as author George R. R. Martin. Heck, that's even the case with the prequel series "House of the Dragon," which Martin himself has criticized. One character on "Game of Thrones" never wavered in his personal moral code, however, thanks in large part to the man who portrayed him.
Liam Cunningham, who played Ser Davos Seaworth, the Onion Knight, apparently took a stand when there was a proposed subplot that he felt would have compromised the character.

Fans were caught off-guard after seeing what seemed like Emilia Clarke’s Daenerys Targaryen in the finale episode of House of the Dragon Season 2. While it has been confirmed that another actress portrayed the part, the decision to insert a little Game of Thrones Easter egg in that scene was quite an impressive move.

The story mainly revolves around the Targaryen civil war known as the Dance of the Dragons and was penned by the legendary George R.R. Martin. George R.R. Martin is an author who needs no introduction...but today warrants one anyway, because we're diving deep into his career for an exclusive, in-depth discussion with the man himself. Over the past 53 years, Martin has established himself as one of the most important voices of our time in the genres of fantasy and science fiction. He began publishing stories professionally in 1971, when he sold his short story "The Hero" to Galaxy Magazine at the age of 21. After that, he wrote numerous works of short fiction before releasing his first novel in 1977, the space opera Dying of the Light. Along the way, Martin won both the Hugo and Nebula award, gained many more award nominations, and published dozens of stories, earning him a reputation as a rising star of speculative fiction.

The second season of House of the Dragon, the first Game of Thrones prequel series to air on HBO, wrapped up last month. It'll be 2026 before we see more of that show. However, HBO isn't going to let us go the whole of 2026 without another visit to Westeros. A new prequel series, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, will air its first season sometime in 2025.
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is based on George R.R. Martin's Dunk and Egg novellas, about a very strong (if somewhat thick) knight named Dunk and his clever, much smaller squire Egg. The novellas are set decades after the events of House of the Dragon and decades before the events of Game of Thrones. There are no dragons, and at least at the start of the series, there's no war. In the three novellas yet published, Dunk and Egg simply wander the Seven Kingdoms going on adventures.

According to Mttsh, The Old Guard actor Matthias Schoenaerts is in talks to play the villainous Krem of the Yellow Hills.
In Tom King's comic series, Krem is a ruthless Kingsasgent responsible for killing Ruthye Marye Knoll's father and incurring the wrath of Kara Zor-El by putting an arrow in Krypto.

Ever thought the camera was a secret cast member? George R.R. Martin certainly does! The connection between Succession and House of the Dragon Season 2 is as deep as a dragon’s lair. Both shows play a game of power with their cameras, making them as integral to the plot as any character. Martin’s own epic saga embraces the intense, almost voyeuristic gaze of the lens, creating a parallel between the high-stakes boardrooms of Succession and the fiery thrones of House of the Dragon.

Fans watched a seemingly never-ending battle for the Iron Throne unfold on Game of Thrones. It left fans wondering who was worthy of ruling Westeros. The conclusion to years of scheming and fighting was… controversial to say the least.
However, we’ve got a different question about the series to answer: Which star from the cast is the wealthiest with the highest estimated net worth?
HBO’s fantasy series is the sort of industry dominating, pop culture titan that comes around every so often and totally changes the game. And while the characters battled it out on the screen, the show made its stars rich in real life.
The show brought the world of Westeros to life straight from the pages of George R.R. Martin‘s A Song of Ice and Fire novels and became a breakaway hit that fans are still talking about many years after the grand finale.
However, we’ve got a different question about the series to answer: Which star from the cast is the wealthiest with the highest estimated net worth?

In the world of George R. R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" books, one colloquialism is that "words are wind." This is the Westeros equivalent of "actions speak louder." Martin has proven the emptiness of promises correct by having failed to deliver the sixth book, fittingly titled "The Winds Of Winter."
With no new story to discuss, one pastime in "Asoiaf" fan circles is debating why Martin is taking so long, and if he even intends to finish at all. One theory, which notes the hiatus coincided with the premiere of television adaptation "Game of Thrones," is that Martin lost interest in telling the story as prose. Remember, he spent the '80s and '90s as a TV writer after his third novel, "The Armageddon Rag," flopped. He pivoted back to novels with "A Song of Ice and Fire" because his screenplays weren't being made. With...

The other week, author George R.R. Martin did something surprising: writing on his Not a Blog, he publicly criticized HBO's Game of Thrones prequel show House of the Dragon, which is based on his book Fire & Blood. He dinged the show for changing things from the source material in a way that weakened the story, and warned that there were bigger, "more toxic" changes being contemplated for future seasons of the show.
Martin never did anything like this during the nine years that Game of Thrones (which is based on his book series A Song of Ice and Fire) was running on HBO, so the changes that House of the Dragon showrunner Ryan Condal made from his book obviously upset him. We the fans had inklings that something was bothering Martin before he went public, but I certainly wasn't expecting him to be so up front about it.

The other week, author George R.R. Martin publicly criticized House of the Dragon, which is based on his book Fire & Blood. Martin dinged the show for wandering too far from the source material and warned of bigger, more "toxic" changes to come. We may never learn what he thinks those are; Martin deleted his blog post shortly after it went up, and HBO released a special podcast episode where House of the Dragon showrunner Ryan Condal defended his adaptation choices.
We're pretty big fans of House of the Dragon here at WinterIsComing.net — go figure — and we've definitely noticed the huge number of changes the show made from Fire & Blood in its second season. Just because an adaptation deviates from the source material doesn't mean the changes are bad; there are several changes that I enjoyed this past season. Others were harder to swallow, including what the show did with Daemon Targaryen,...
