The most obscure Saturday Night Live cast members aren’t necessarily the ones with the least amount of screen time. For example, one comic lasted a single episode as a featured player back in 1981, but can we really call Tony- and Emmy Award-winning actress Laurie Metcalf obscure? On the other hand, it’s highly unlikely that you’ll recognize these eight forgotten SNL cast members, regardless of how many times they appeared on the show.
1 Emily Prager
Like Metcalf, Prager only appeared on a single episode of SNL. Unlike Metcalf, you don’t know her from anything else.

2 Dan Vitale
Lorne Michaels returned to Saturday Night Live during Season 11 after a four-year sabbatical, making several high-profile casting mistakes as well as low-key, little-remembered ones like Vitale, a comic who only appeared in three episodes.

3 Luke Null

Exclusive: Tony- and Olivier Award-winning actor Bertie Carvel, who portrays Tony Blair opposite Imelda Staunton’s Queen Elizabeth II in the final season of The Crown, remembers meeting the the real Queen Elizabeth at Buckingham Palace “and nearly head-butting” her “in my attempt to try not to be too obsequious, but to follow the right form.”
He still has a photo of him being introduced to the monarch at an event nine years ago. “I look like the Mr. Bean sketch where he bows and knocks her out. I’m so towering over the queen and I look like I really should have gone to the barber, and I was red-faced and hairy.”
Well, The Crown’s crack hair and makeup team led by designer Cate Hall has ensured that he’s respectfully coiffured to portray Blair.
Proudly, he adds that on his fridge is the badge palace officials handed him at the event,...

Nathan Stewart-Jarrett is ready for his close-up. After making a mark with TV’s “Misfits” and “Utopia” and in the film “Candyman,” the British actor is set to explode upon the world stage with “Femme,” world premiering at the Berlin Film Festival’s Panorama strand.
Stewart-Jarrett plays Jules, whose alter-ego is Aphrodite, a celebrated drag queen in a gay club in London whose life is destroyed by a homophobic attack. After he spots one of the perpetrators (George MacKay) in a gay sauna, Jules plots revenge.
“Femme” is based on the BAFTA-nominated short of the same name by directors Sam H. Freeman and Ng Choon Ping. Stewart-Jarrett had played a former drag queen in the Tony- and Olivier Award-winning theater production of “Angels in America” and built on that during the “Femme” preparation.

My Policeman, which had its world premiere today at the Toronto Film Festival, has its roots in a novel by Bethan Roberts which was actually based on a complicated love relationship between famed novelist E.M. Forster; his male lover of 40 years, a policeman named Bob Buckingham; and Buckingham’s wife May Hockey, who slowly came to realize her husband had a long-standing affair with Forster, but even after he had suffered a series of strokes took care of the author in his later life so deep was their friendship. Roberts changed the names and fictionalized it all for her book, which is now the basis of Ron Nyswaner’s (Philadelphia) screenplay that explores the love triangle of three freewheeling friends in 1957 who each was hobbled by the mores of the time, repressing rather than expressing their own sexuality, even as the...

John Legend might be one of the busiest men in Hollywood. Don't believe us? The fact that he reached Egot status should be hint enough. But when he's not at a microphone or piano, John is soaking up time with his wife, Chrissy Teigen, and two children, Luna and Miles, who happen to look exactly like him.
Sadly, we don't think our dreams of being adopted into this adorable family of four will become a reality, but luckily we don't have to go far to get our John fill. We just turn on our radios, rewatch Jesus Christ Superstar Live, or flip through this giant gallery of swoon-worthy pictures - and sometimes we do all three at once.

John Legend and Chrissy Teigen may have skipped the Oscars this year, but that certainly didn't stop them from turning heads at the Vanity Fair afterparty. The couple - who will be celebrating their sixth wedding anniversary in September - oozed glamour as they hit the red carpet together. John looked suave in a black tux, while Chrissy stunned in a peach feathered dress.
Given that John recently joined the Egot club, it's possible the R&B singer got "lazy" again and didn't feel like sitting through the ceremony. I mean, why attend a three-hour-long award show when you can just go straight to the party? Am I right? Though that didn't stop Chrissy from soaking up the spotlight at the party. On the red carpet, Chrissy hilariously pushed John out of the way so she could have her own red carpet moment. "honestly this is a very important carpet...

Lady Gaga is one step closer to achieving Egot status, and her dear friend and collaborator Tony Bennett could not be any prouder. On Tuesday, the nominations were announced for the 91st Academy Awards on Feb. 24, and Gaga scored nods in the best actress and best original song categories for A Star Is Born. Following the announcement, Tony congratulated Gaga on Twitter with a heartfelt sentiment. "I always knew you could do anything at the highest level of artistry," he wrote. "Congratulations on your Oscar nominations!"
But that's not all! In addition to Gaga's nominations, the 32-year-old singer made history as the first to ever be nominated for best actress and best original song at the Oscars. Not to mention, she's already won a Golden Globe and Critics' Choice Award for best song and she tied with Glenn Close for best actress at the Critics' Choice. Gaga is also up...

Anne Bancroft would’ve celebrated her 87th birthday on September 17. Born in 1931, the actress had a celebrated career on both the stage and screen, becoming one of the few people to win the trifecta of performance awards. In honor of her birthday, let’s take a look back at 12 of her greatest films, ranked worst to best.
Bancroft made her Broadway debut in William Gibson‘s “Two for the Seesaw,” directed by Arthur Penn. The role brought her a Tony as Best Featured Actress in a play (1958). The very next year, she re-teamed with Gibson and Penn for “The Miracle Worker,” for which she won a second Tony (Best Actress in a Play in 1959).
Following the stage success, Bancroft, Penn and Gibson adapted “The Miracle Worker” to the big screen in 1962. Recreating the role of Annie Sullivan, a teacher struggling to help the deaf and blind Helen Keller (Patty Duke) learn to communicate,...

“Saturday Night Live” officially has the most wins in Emmy history for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics. At Sunday’s 2018 Creative Arts, the 43-year series just won its third Emmy in the category, for the song “Come Back Barack” written by Eli Brueggemann, Chris Redd, Will Stephen and Kenan Thompson. (Watch our fun interview with Thompson.) By claiming gold, “Come Back Barack” essentially stopped Benj Pasek and Justin Paul from earning an Egot this time around.
“Come Back Barack” from “Saturday Night Live” was predicted to win this category by most Gold Derby users, having 1/5 odds. The song is an ode to old R&B groups of the ‘80s and ‘90s, with Redd, Thompson and Chance the Rapper wistfully pleading for Barack Obama to return to the White House and replace the current administration. Bruegemann and Stephen had five previous Emmy nominations each. This was Redd’s first Emmy nomination,...

When you envision the highest possible pinnacle of your acting career, what do you imagine? Is it accepting the biggest honors of stage and screen, the indicators that your critics and fellow artists respect and admire your work? Don’t lie—you’ve practiced your ideal awards acceptance speech in the mirror. For years now, the term “Egot”—a title bestowed on individuals who have claimed Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony Awards—has been hailed as the most coveted honor in show business, the grand slam of any entertainer. After all, it’s not enough to conquer one aspect of the biz; to be considered a true legend, one has to be accepted and championed by those working in television, music, film, and theater. The term was coined by, of all people, “Miami Vice” actor Philip Michael Thomas, who so desired the four trophies that he went as far as...

Deadline Awards Columnist and Chief Film Critic Pete Hammond gives his take on the top acting contenders for the 2018 Primetime Emmy Awards. Here, he breaks down the categories of Outstanding Lead and Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or Movie.
Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movie
With a win here, one of the six nominees for Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movie has a chance to complete an Egot, two others could add to their previous Emmy wins, while the other three are simply looking for their first. Among the contenders, three are playing real-life people as distinctly varied as a serial killer, a legendary artist, and a rock-singing Jesus Christ. The competition is so fierce this year that even Al Pacino failed to make the list. Here’s the handicap…

When producer Norman Lear offered Rita Moreno the role of Lydia Riera on the Netflix reimagining of “One Day at a Time” she insisted on one major aspect of the character. “I know she’s older, and I know she’s a grandmother, but she has to be a sexual person,” she told us when we interviewed her on the red carpet at the Netflix Fysee event for “One Day” on June 2. Watch our chat with her above.
Lydia is the matriarch of a Cuban-American family living in Los Angeles. She fled Cuba when Fidel Castro rose to power, but she has lost none of her vibrancy with age. Her daughter Penelope (Justina Machado) is a nurse, and Lydia began a flirtation with Penelope’s boss Dr. Berkowitz (Stephen Tobolowsky) that inflamed her jealousy in season two when Berkowitz began dating another woman.
