When you think of the long-running Fox procedural "Bones," what do you think of? Skeletons of every kind — goopy, burned, rotting, frozen, and so on — on display while Emily Deschanel's forensic anthropologist examined them for clues? A will-they-won't-they romance between her character, Temperance Brennan, and David Boreanaz's FBI agent Seeley Booth? That one post-"American Idol" episode where The Gravedigger's head explodes?
By virtue of the show's title alone, it's unlikely that Booth's sharpshooting is the first thing that comes to mind for fans of the series. The character was great at his job, but any number of FBI cool guy antics paled in comparison to Bones' own nitty-gritty investigative work. Still, Boreanaz apparently worked hard behind the scenes to make sure Booth's status as a former Army sniper was believable, even going so far as to train with the show's police technical adviser, according to Paul Ruditis' book "Bones: The Official Companion.

Tony Dinozzo, played by Michael Weatherly, became a fan favorite during his years on NCIS. Now, almost a decade after his departure from the original show, a spin-off, NCIS: Tony & Ziva, is coming to Paramount+.
The new project does not yet have a release date, but it is known that it will be released in the second half of 2024.
Here are nine projects starring Michael Weatherly to help you pass the time.
1. Bull, 2016-2022
Dr. Jason Bull is the charming founder of a successful trial consulting firm. He and his team use science and intuition to understand attorneys, witnesses, and defendants and create trial scenarios that help their clients win.
Michael Weatherly's Dr. Bull falls somewhere between Lie to Me's Dr. Lightman and The Mentalist's Patrick Jane. From the former, he takes an (almost) scientific approach to "reading" people — whether they are lying or telling the truth.

TV crossovers have been a thing for the vast majority of the medium's history as a popular form of entertainment. From "The Jetsons" meeting "The Flinstones" to "The Simpsons" meeting the characters from "Futurama," there's a rich history here. But not every crossover is quite so obvious. For example, the Fox crime drama "Bones" ended up crossing with, oddly enough, Seth MacFarlane's animated sitcom "Family Guy." Bizarre though it may sound, both shows aired on the same network at the same time, and there was a good enough reason to bring these characters into the same universe at the time.
The episode in question was the second to last episode of "Bones" season 4, entitled "The Critic in the Cabernet." While the main plot involves human remains found inside a wine barrel during a tasting, the crossover has to do with the episode's B-plot. In the episode, Emily Deschanel's...

The Holdovers collaborators, director Alexander Payne and screenwriter David Hemingson, are working on another film together—a Western, in fact—and during a Q&a following a screening of The Holdovers at Soho House in West Hollywood on Friday, Hemingson revealed there’s a part earmarked for Paul Giamatti.
“I’ve been sworn to secrecy,” Hemingson said, “but what I will say is we’ve written him a part and I hope he’ll do it.”
If Giamatti, who stars in The Holdovers, accepts, it would be his third collaboration with Payne since Sideways in 2004.
Hemingson went on to reveal some details of the new project: “Alexander and I are writing a Western together, so we’re going to co-write something, and it’s set in Nebraska in 1886, and it’s like no Western you have ever seen before, because it’s an Alexander Payne Western. You’d be forgiven for being surprised that Jason Derulo hadn’t released an album since 2015’s Everything Is 4. In the nine years since that full-length’s release, Derulo has kept himself in the public eye, whether through his Tiktoks or his steady stream of singles; his fizzy collaboration with the New Zealand producer Jawsh 685 “Savage Love (Laxed – Siren Beat” even reached No. 1 on the Hot 100 in 2020, thanks in part to a clutch assist from BTS.

TV crossovers have been around almost as long as the medium of television itself. Before the advent of modern shared universes, they were mostly just a lark intended to goose viewership. When "Adventures of Superman" star George Reeves turned up as the show's namesake in the 1957 "I Love Lucy" episode "Lucy and Superman," it was all a big in-joke and not some kind of serious declaration that Lucy and Ricky Ricardo somehow existed in the same universe as the Man of Steel. Nearly 60 years later, when "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" Detective Jake Peralta (Andy Samberg) crossed paths with Jess Day (Zooey Deschanel) from "New Girl," it was a similar bit of fun ... assuming you could refrain from thinking too hard about the in-universe implications.
Speaking of not thinking too hard about canonical implications, Hart Hanson's playful yet by and large grounded Fox procedural "Bones" likewise crossed over with, of all shows,...

If you have not re-watched The X-Files in a while, you might not remember the 13th episode of season 3, “Syzygy,” very well. It appears on neither “Best Episodes” lists nor “Worst Episodes” lists of the show. There are 218 episodes of The X-Files, and in rankings of all or most of them, “Syzygy” appears in positions like 77, 123, and 133. Even the director, Rob Bowman, is not particularly keen on the episode. In the book X-Files Confidential, he talked about how he felt pressured to shoot it quickly because the break for the holidays was coming up, and that he felt the story was “oblique.”
But there is one group of X-Files fans “Syzygy” speaks to more than any other, especially when it first aired: teenage girls. For them, or for those who first watched it as a teenager, this may not only be a favorite episode, it is certainly an important one.

Filmmaking legend William Friedkin has sadly passed away, although he left us with one last film before his death. The director of "The French Connection" and "The Exorcist" was recently gearing us for the release of what will now serve as his final bow, "The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial." The film is based on Herman Wouk's courtroom stage drama of the same name, itself adapted from Wouk's own 1952 Pulitzer Prize-winning novel. It also rounds out what could be considered an unofficial trilogy of plays-turned-films directed by Friedkin after his previous two non-documentary features, "Bug" and "Killer Joe" (both of which were based on plays by Tracy Letts).
"The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial" centers around one Lieutenant Stephen Maryk (Jake Lacy), a Naval officer who is put on trial for mutiny after he forcibly relieves the captain of the USS Caine, Lieutenant Commander Phillip Queeg (Kiefer Sutherland), from his duties, believing him to be mentally unfit.

Liz Craft and Sarah Fain have been working and writing together since they were fifteen. In television, they have partnered as writers and producers on several major network shows like The Fix, Lie To Me, and Dollhouse.
They are the dynamic duo behind the Fox hit revival of Fantasy Island, which has just finished its second season with an emotional and satisfying finale.
Speaking with TV Fanatic over Zoom (Days before the unfortunate news of the show's cancellation), the pair are as in sync discussing their show as they are in producing the whimsical yet thought-provoking series.
While the Fantasy Island IP has undergone a couple of revivals/reboots since the original series concluded in 1984, this is the first that truly builds on the legacy of Ricardo Montalban and his wish-granting domain.
Fain and Craft are honest about how they were fortunate to have several key pieces fall into place first,...

The 5 Seconds of Summer Show, the tenth anniversary celebration that the pop-rock band hosted at the close of 2021, was part career-spanning concert film and part Saturday Night Live skit poking fun at their decade-long evolution. It featured a recreation of the video for one of their earliest releases — 2012’s “Gotta Get Out” — alongside their biggest hits, like “Youngblood” and “She Looks So Perfect,” and a funeral for their faded black skinny jeans. But the one thing that has never changed about 5Sos is their commitment to delivering an unrelenting live show.

Peacock’s Bel-Air is nearly matching the number of seasons with its showrunners.
The NBCUniversal-backed streamer has handed out a third-season renewal for its reimagining of Will Smith’s beloved The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. The dramatic take on the former comedy series that is inspired by Morgan Cooper’s viral short was originally picked up at Peacock with a two-season order following a competitive bidding process with other streamers vying for the series.
The season three renewal marks its first vote of confidence beyond that initial order and follows a wave of showrunner changes as the drama struggled to find its creative voice. Carla Banks Waddles was recruited as showrunner at the start of season two. The Good Girls and The Soul Man alum was promoted from co-exec producer to showrunner and replaced T.J. Brady and Rasheed Newson (Army Wives, Lie to Me) at the helm of Bel-Air.

David Graziano, who was named the new showrunner of “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” ahead of its record 24th season, has been accused of creating “toxic” work environments and of inappropriate behavior and comments on his previous series, the Los Angeles Times reported on Thursday.
According to the article, the allegations of bullying date back at least 10 years.
“The implication that Mr. Graziano created a hostile work environment, or is sexist, inappropriate and unprofessional is false,” his spokesperson Alafair Hall told TheWrap. “‘Please,’ ‘thank you,’ and ‘excuse me,’ are words seldom heard in writers’ rooms where the focus is murder.”
When the news that “Svu” had tapped Graziano broke, Amy Hartman, who worked as a script coordinator on his Paramount drama “Coyote,” wrote on an email thread, “Graz is super toxic and I’ve never run from a job so fast in my life as I did when I Sc’ed for him.

Amazon Studios is shaking up the leadership of its TV programming operations under Head of Television Vernon Sanders, I have learned. Marc Resteghini is stepping down as US/Global Head of Development, sources said. He is negotiating a producing deal with Amazon Studios. Nick Pepper, Head of Studio Creative Content, and Laura Lancaster, Head of Series, are expected to divvy up Resteghini’s responsibilities and co-run development and production of TV content, reporting to Sanders. MGM TV’s operations remain separate and do not factor into the current executive changes.
A rep for Amazon Studios declined comment.
Resteghini, Pepper and Lancaster were named to their most recent roles in early 2021 as part of an Amazon Studios TV restructuring that created the layer of three top programming positions reporting to then-Amazon Studios co-heads of TV Sanders and Albert Cheng (who also was COO).

The dramatic reimagining of Will Smith‘s classic sitcom Fresh Prince of Bel-Air appears to be having a tough time finding the right showrunner, as Peacock‘s Bel-Air brings in its fourth producer to helm the show. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Carla Banks-Waddles (Good Girls) has been promoted from co-executive producer to executive producer and showrunner for the show’s second season. She replaces T.J. Brady (The Chi) and Rasheed Newson (Lie to Me), who reportedly left due to creative differences with Peacock and producers Universal Television. Banks-Waddles becomes Bel-Air‘s fourth showrunner in its short history. The series, which was given a two-season, straight-to-series order at Peacock, originally had Chris Collins (Sons of Anarchy) on board as showrunner. Collins wanted to produce an edgy, premium series, according to THR sources, while Peacock was looking for a more broad-skewing network-style show. Collins soon departed the show and was replaced by Diane Houston (Empire). However,...

Tim Roth will be part of the supporting cast of "She-Hulk: Attorney at Law" as Emil Blonsky/The Abomination. Blonsky appears as one of Jennifer Walters' supervillain clients, with her trying to get him paroled; the "She-Hulk" trailers show the two meeting while he's imprisoned. Considering Walters is a cousin of Blonsky's nemesis, Bruce Banner, their attorney/client relationship probably isn't going to be the smoothest.
Blonsky was previously the main villain of 2008's "The Incredible Hulk," and the Marvel Cinematic Universe's second big bad after Obadiah Stane (Jeff Bridges) in "Iron Man." When a villain survives the end of a Marvel movie, it's usually because there are greater plans for them. And yet, Roth wound up stuck in one of the longest hiatuses in the MCU. Well, Tatiana Maslany has some big news: she's married! During her Aug. 11 appearance on "The Late Show With Stephen Colbert," the "She-Hulk: Attorney at Law" star revealed she secretly wed boyfriend Brendan Hines. "My actual big news: I got married," Maslany said to the audience. "Nobody knows, so don't tell anyone," she added jokingly.
Maslany shared that she and her "wonderful guy" decided to keep their wedding news under wraps because "there are certain things you want to keep private." "But we felt like you were the right person to tell it to," she told Colbert. Maslany didn't reveal when the couple tied the knot, but of their ceremony, she said that they kept it small due to the pandemic. "It went very well. It was a very chill day," she said, also adding that her and Hines's dog Earl served as the ring bearer.

The orchestra is tuning up.
Netflix has released five images from the set of “Maestro,” Bradley Cooper’s forthcoming biopic of the late composer/conductor/educator/raconteur Leonard Bernstein, out in 2023. And even though no one’s heard even one note, the “bravo!”s are in, at least as the makeup and costuming is concerned.
The first of the three images show Bernstein as a younger man, with Carey Mulligan as Felicia Montealgre, a stage and television actress who married Bernstein in 1951. The second picture is probably shot on location at the Koussevitzky Music Shed at the Tanglewood Music Center in Lenox, Massachusetts. (The production did go up there for a time.)
The fourth and fifth pictures are the real stunners from a transformation perspective. Bernstein is shown “at work” (e.g. conducting and agonizing over his art) later in life. You’ll note there is a deep red jacket slung over a chair.

The NBC drama pilot “Found” has cast Kelli Williams, Variety has learned exclusively.
Williams joins previously announced series lead Shanola Hampton in the project along with fellow cast member Mark-Paul Gosselaar.
The show is built around the fact that, in any given year, more than 600,000 people are reported missing in the U.S. More than half that number are people of color that the country seems to forget about. Public relations specialist Gabi Mosley (Hampton) — who was once herself one of those forgotten ones — and her crisis management team now make sure there is always someone looking out for the forgotten missing people. But unbeknownst to anyone, this everyday hero is hiding a chilling secret of her own.
Williams will star in the pilot as Margaret Reed. A keen observer of human behavior, Margaret is a crisis manager at Mosley and Associates, and the mother figure to her whole team of associates.

La Lupe never seemed to second-guess herself onstage. The Afro-Cuban singer — who died 30 years ago this week, on Feb. 29, 1992 — was infinitely watchable, unafraid to kick and howl and twitch, as if the music were sending electric jolts throughout her body. In Cuba, where she headlined nightclubs in the early 1960s, she enthralled novelists like Ernest Hemingway and Guillermo Cabrera, both of whom wrote about the rhapsodic fury that seemed to overtake her when she sang. Her first husband Eulogio Reyes once said that the first time he saw her perform,...
