Amazon’s latest generative artificial intelligence tool, Project Amelia, is set to ameliorate the seller experience. The e-commerce giant announced Project Amelia, a chatbot aimed at answering sellers’ queries and sharing insights to expand their businesses, at its Accelerate conference in Seattle on Thursday. The beta version rolled out to a select group of sellers on Thursday, and the company plans to bring access to additional U.S. sellers over the next few weeks. Consumers in August showed just how mindful they can be when it comes to what they were willing to buy and where. Early data from the U.S. Census Bureau on Tuesday showed that August retail sales inched up 0.1 percent to $710.77 billion, from a revised 1.1 percent gain to $710.1 billion in July. The August data point was also up 2.1 percent, unadjusted, from August 2023 levels. Data estimates are adjusted for seasonal variation and holiday, but not for price changes.

In July, the artificial intelligence-powered short message service (SMS) and email marketing platform launched AI Pro—a cutting-edge suite of tools designed to enhance marketing messaging—internationally. American manufacturers aren’t seeing the future through rose-tinted glasses. About half (49 percent) of U.S.-based suppliers believe a recession will hit the market in 2025—and the vast majority (84 percent) think it will happen within the next two years, according to recent research from digital manufacturing solutions provider CADDi.
