Eduardo E. Balbis
Eduardo E. Balbis is a former member of the Florida Public Service Commission, the state body charged with regulating the state's utility companies. He was first appointed to this position by Gov. Charlie Crist in September 2010. His appointment was for a four-year term, ending January 1, 2015.[1] Balbis opted to retire from the commission rather than seek another term. Florida Governor Rick Scott appointed state Rep. Jimmy Patronis to replace Balbis on the commission, effective January 2015.[2]
Biography
Before his appointment to the Public Service Commission in 2010, Balbis served as Assistant City Administrator for the City of West Palm Beach from 2008 to November 2010.[3][4]
Balbis holds a B.S. in environmental engineering from the University of Florida.[3]

Balbis began his four-year term as a member of the Florida Public Service Commission following his appointment by Governor Rick Scott (R) in September 2010.[1] In September 2014, with his term scheduled to expire in January 2015, Balbis announced he would not seek reappointment to the regulatory board.[5]

In 2011, Gov. Rick Scott (R) reappointed Balbis to the Florida Public Service Commission to serve a four-year term ending January 1, 2015.[6] He declined to apply for a second term on the commission.[2]
2010
Balbis was appointed to the Florida Public Service Commission in September 2010 by Gov. Charlie Crist. Crist stated, "Eduardo's duties overseeing municipal utilities and public works during the past three years have already given him the opportunity to demonstrate his commitment to protecting consumers. As an engineer, he also understands the importance of safeguarding Florida's fresh water supply."[1]
