As the college football campaign progresses, the 2025 NFL draft becomes increasingly intriguing.

Week 5 provided a few standout performances, offering NFL organizations insight into how top prospects are developing in real time.

Players who entered the season with hype have begun to confirm preseason evaluations, while under-the-radar names are rapidly climbing draft boards.

It's the time of the year when breakout stars emerge, and Week 5 gave us no shortage of talking points.

Below, we'll dive into updated scouting notes on several key prospects. We'll also offer pro player comparisons beyond the simplistic height/weight/length similarities to give you an idea of how each prospect's tools and traits could translate to the next level, and we'll also name few other standouts from play around the country.

Ashton Jeanty, RB, Boise State

    Reminds Me Of: Alvin Kamara

Week 5 Stats: 26 carries, 259 yards (17 missed tackles forced), 4 TDs vs. Washington State

Impact Play: 64-yd TD run in the first quarter

Jeanty has been spectacular for Boise State and looks to be the top running back in the 2025 NFL draft.

In four games, he's amassed 845 yards on the ground with 13 (!!!) trips to the end zone. In Week 5 alone, Jeanty, on 26 carries, totaled 259 yards on the ground, a ridiculous 234 of which came after initial contact. He also forced 17 missed tackles in a win over Washington State, pushing the Broncos into the AP Top 25 for the first time in 2024.

Alabama's Derrick Henry (2015) was the last ball-carrier to take home the Heisman, but if the first four games for Boise State is a sign of what's to come, Jeanty still hasn't scratched the surface of what remains in store. He leads all of college football in rushing yards, touchdowns, and his gaudy 10.3 yards per carry ranks first among ball-carriers with at least 50 rushing attempts.

Like Kamara, at a similar height/weight, Jeanty's elite explosiveness and powerful frame allow him to run around, through and over the top of defenders. While Kamara is uniquely different as a pass-catcher, it's a part of Jeanty's game that will improve.

Potential NFL Fits: Dallas Cowboys, San Francisco 49ers, Cleveland Browns

Abdul Carter, EDGE, Penn State

Reminds Me Of: Josh Sweat with elite positional versatility

Week 5 Stats: 8 pressures, 2 sacks, 4 TFL, 1 PBU, 1 forced fumble vs. Illinois

An athletic marvel who has made the full transition down edge this fall, Abdul Carter remains one of the most electric defenders in the upcoming NFL draft.

While decreasing depth and playing nose to nose at the line of scrimmage can take time for most players to adjust to, Carter has been as impactful as Penn State HC James Franklin could hope for four games into the 2024 campaign.

Like Sweat, Carter is also expected to test off the charts at the NFL combine.

As his snaps continue to accumulate at 5-tech (outside the shoulder of the tackle), his production should follow suit. His blend of athleticism and fundamental ability ranks among the top in the 2025 draft class.

Potential NFL Fits: Washington Commanders, New England Patriots, Tennessee Titans

Cade Klubnik, QB, Clemson

    Reminds Me Of: Tyson Bagent

    Week 5 Stats: 15/31, 255 passing yards, 4 TDs, 48 rushing yards & 1 TD vs. Stanford

Opinions varied on Klubnik following last fall due to his prestige as a recruit (5-star) and lack of success under center. However, through five weeks in 2024, the true junior has taken massive steps within the pocket while keeping defenses honest via his legs.

He's thrown 12 touchdowns compared to just two interceptions this fall, and, like Bagent out of Shepherd (D-II program) a few years ago, Klubnik's dual-threat ability and impressive athleticism should earn him an NFL opportunity.

With Clemson ranked No. 15 in the country, the spotlight will continue to shine on Klubnik. An ACC championship matchup against QB Cam Ward and the Miami Hurricanes could be on the horizon.

Potential NFL Fits: Tennessee Titans, Seattle Seahawks, Jacksonville Jaguars (projecting as backup to Trevor Lawrence)

Denzel Boston, WR, Washington

    Reminds Me Of: Marquez Valdes-Scantling

Week 5 Stats: Six receptions (11 targets), 125 receiving yards, 2 TDs vs. Rutgers

    Impact Play: 51-yd TD reception

It's not easy stepping into the shoes of Rome Odunze, Ja'Lynn Polk and Jalen McMillan. Yet, through five games, Denzel Boston has taken the offensive reins and run with them for the Huskies.

One of the country's most productive wideouts, Boston has opened eyes across college football. Beyond his impressive 6'4" frame, similar to Valdes-Scantling, Boston's fluid, long strides eat up ground on the outside before he ever turns, locates and snatches passes out of the air. He's also been a dynamic return man early in 2024.

Boston has quickly become a name to highlight as conference play kicks into high gear.

Potential NFL Fits: Cincinnati Bengals, Washington Commanders, Dallas Cowboys, New Orleans Saints

Thaddeus Dixon, CB, Washington

    Reminds Me Of: Carlton Davis

Through Week 5: 24 targets against (8 receptions allowed), 0 TDs, 1 INT, 6 PBUs

Dixon initially drew attention in his matchup against projected first-round WR Tetairoa McMillan back in 2023. Now five weeks into his senior campaign, Dixon has remained one of the country's stingiest aerial stalwarts.

Similar to Carlton Davis, Dixon can live as a Cover 3 corner, only to slide inside to the slot and counter shiftier wideouts at shallower depths (see tape vs. Oregon in 2023). He's showcased excellent eyes to make plays on the football, is a willing tackler in the open field and has the footwork and hips to slide, shuffle and run with various types of receivers.

Dixon has stepped up to the challenge following the transfer of presumed CB1 Jabbar Muhammad (Oregon) prior to the start of the season.

Potential NFL Fits: Jacksonville Jaguars, Arizona Cardinals, New York Jets, Pittsburgh Steelers
