US naval destroyers joined Israeli air defense units in firing interceptors to shoot down inbound missiles. We do not know of any damage to aircraft or strategic military assets in Israel. Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Ohio Republican Senator J.D. Vance square off tonight in their first vice presidential debate. The stakes are high as both campaigns raced to make their pitch to voters with just five weeks until Election Day. Vance is expected to hammer Walz over his military record. Republicans have accused Walls of overstating his resume and retiring prior to his unit's deployments in Iraq to avoid serving in combat. A review of the records found that Walz filed to run for Congress in 2005 before his unit was notified it could deploy to Iraq. Walz could attack Vance and former President Donald Trump's false claims that Haitians in Springfield, Ohio, are abducting and eating their neighbors pets.

'President Joe Biden has called for port workers along the East and Gulf Coast to reach an agreement with managing companies and end their strike. Biden could end it himself by invoking the Taft-Hartley Act. He's reluctant to do so, though Bank of America analysts predict that he'll eventually intervene. White House officials are scheduled to meet with representatives from the U.S. Marine Time Corp on Friday. It hasn't yet been 24 hours since nearly 50,000 members of the International Longshoremen's Association walked off the job and took to picketing. They're demanding an hourly pay raise as well as language in their contracts that the ports won't introduce automation and for all royalties for the containers to go to workers until an agreement is reached. The U.S. gross domestic product could lose billions though one economist said the strike isn't expected to completely derail the economy.
