Immunoprevention of colorectal cancer: a future possibility?

Gastroenterol Clin North Am. 2002 Dec;31(4):1001-14. doi: 10.1016/s0889-8553(02)00054-7.

Abstract

Immunoprevention of colorectal cancer remains a largely untested possibility. The success demonstrated by immunopreventive approaches in mammary carcinoma suggest that this new cancer preventive modality should be investigated for other types of cancer. The design of a successful strategy for colorectal cancer will have to incorporate general concepts that have already been developed for dealing with other tumors, and intestine-specific immunologic strategies.
