Abstract

Fall is a common and often devastating problem among elderly people, resulting in loss of function, using of health care services and increasing mortality. Most of those falls are associated with one or more risk factors, and several measures may reduce the number of fractures. To prevent of fractures, improve bone quality, medication such as bisphosphonates or reduce the impact on the hip region during a fall ; external hip protectors could be useful. Medical assessment of fall risks and provisions of appropriate interventions are necessary and guidelines for fall prevention are recommended.
