Head-to-head comparison of an automated immunometric and an automated HPLC method for the quantification of HbA1c

Clin Biochem. 2008 Nov;41(16-17):1410-2. doi: 10.1016/j.clinbiochem.2008.08.084. Epub 2008 Sep 9.

Abstract

Objectives: To compare a fully automated immunoassay and a fully automated HPLC method for the quantification of HbA1c.

Design and methods: For an inter-method comparison, 200 consecutive clinical samples were analyzed. Imprecision was studied with pooled whole blood.

Results: Very close agreement of results (identical mean result (6.0%); r=0.99), and very similar reproducibility (total CV approximately 1%) were observed.

Conclusions: Both assays offer very similar analytical performance, although the analytical techniques used are completely different.
