Birefringence control in close-spaced fused-fiber wavelength-division multiplexers: a comparison of three methods

Opt Lett. 1991 Aug 1;16(15):1159-61. doi: 10.1364/ol.16.001159.

Abstract

Three methods of controlling the polarization sensitivity of close-spaced fused-fiber wavelength-division multiplexers are analyzed. Resin-packaged, optimum-fusing, and twist-tuning techniques are compared. The twist-tuning technique is shown to be the favored method.
