The importance of adequate ante-mortem dental records for post-mortem identification: a case report

N Z Dent J. 1991 Jan;87(387):17-8.

Abstract

This report describes the identification of a small boy who died in a fire. Identification was achieved by matching of post-mortem findings with records of the School Dental Service. A feature of the case was the presence of a fused tooth 82-83, a relatively uncommon finding. The case illustrates the need for accurate and complete dental records.
