Objective: The aim to this study was to investigate the association between the single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of interleukin (IL)-23 receptor gene and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) in a Chinese population.
Methods: A case-control study was performed to investigate the associations of SNPs in IL-23R gene (rs10889677 and rs1884444) with susceptibility to SLE in 521 Chinese SLE patients and 527 normal controls. The chi-square test and unconditional Logistic regression were used to analysis by SPSS 10.1 software.
Results: No significant differences were detected for the distribution of allele and genotype frequencies of these two SNPs between patients and controls as well as SLE patients with nephritis (LN) and those without nephritis.
Conclusion: The findings suggest that the polymorphisms of IL-23R gene might not contribute to the susceptibility of SLE in the Chinese population.
