After the myocardial infarction: a review and approach to risk stratification

Cardiol Clin. 1988 Feb;6(1):153-63.

Abstract

Each patient who is stricken with a myocardial infarction should be evaluated with respect to future risk. Risk stratification should be carried out early after the acute infarction since the majority of excess deaths occur early after discharge. Clinical observations and several properly selected noninvasive procedures will classify most patients into high or low risk.
