Abstract

The diagnosis of diabetes in a child or adolescent upsets the family dynamics. After the initial shock of the diagnosis, the child and their parents are given guidance to help them acquire a level of autonomy adapted to their needs. The aim of this early therapeutic education is to enable them to envisage resuming existing activities or organising new projects, as soon as they leave hospital.
