The treatment landscape of multiple myeloma (MM) has been rapidly evolving, leading to improved survival for patients. Given the existence of effective treatment strategies, it is important to not only have better response criteria but also have imaging modalities capable of measuring treatment response, because most patients present with focal bone marrow/bone lesions not captured by myeloma protein and bone marrow examination. Whole body skeletal survey has been considered as a "gold standard" for the determination of the extent of myeloma bone disease at diagnosis.
