A pharmacologic approach to the infusion of ritodrine

Am J Obstet Gynecol. 1988 Feb;158(2):380-4. doi: 10.1016/0002-9378(88)90159-7.

Abstract

The recommended regimen for the infusion of ritodrine leads to unnecessarily high plasma concentrations. A review of basic pharmacologic principles provides a basis for changing the infusion regimen. A regimen is proposed that results in lower average and peak concentrations and reduces the total amount of drug given. These changes may decrease the risk of developing side effects without adversely affecting the ability to inhibit preterm labor.
