Abstract

Herein, a novel 3D metal-organic ligand consisting of a folded Ru(II)-connected tetrameric cycle and two sets of 60° juxtaposed bisterpyridine arms was synthesized and its complexation with Zn²⁺ gave rise to dendritic-faced metallo-octahedron 6. Remarkably, octahedron 6 displayed unexpected photosensitization ability that could produce singlet oxygen (¹O₂) under white light irradiation.
