[Sex-specific differences in the cortisol level post-partum]

Abstract

The concentration of serum cortisol in umbilical vein and cubital vein blood was estimated from 93 mothers and their newborns with a cortisol enzyme immunoassay. In the maternal as also in the umbilical vein serum was found for boys significantly higher Cortisol levels, especially from boys of primiparae, coupling with a significant extended time of delivery.
