Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement as a Rescue Treatment for Prosthetic Valve Endocarditis

Abstract

A 74-year-old man with a history of bioprosthetic aortic valve replacement presented with acute severe aortic insufficiency and cardiogenic shock secondary to Diphtheroides and Enterococcus endocarditis. The patient was deemed to be not a surgical candidate by the multidisciplinary team and underwent rescue transcatheter aortic valve-in-valve replacement, resulting in complete recovery.
