Abstract

In order to continuously promote the evaluation of Chinese guidelines and consensus, the Working Group on the Scientific, Transparent and Applicable Rankings (STAR) for guidelines has developed a comprehensive guideline evaluation system based on the previous work. The STAR working group established 37 specialty committees, organized 508 members, and evaluated 334 Chinese guidelines and 1 143 Chinese consensus published in medical journals in 2022. The evaluation results showed that the average score of guidelines was 43.4, with a 36.1% improvement compared to 2021. The average score of consensus was 28.3, with a 24.7% improvement compared to 2021. The compliance rate of some items ("Identify how the guideline protocol is accessible from an open-source platform""Describe the role of funder(s) in the guideline development"and"Provide tailored editions of the guidelines for different groups of target users") were generally low and need to be further improved. The STAR Working Group will publish the evaluation and ranking results in relevant journals or platforms, and further update and improve the comprehensive evaluation system.
