Galleria mellonella larvae as an alternative model to determine the pathogenicity of avian pathogenic Escherichia coli

Avian Pathol. 2024 Dec;53(6):507-519. doi: 10.1080/03079457.2024.2365932. Epub 2024 Jun 26.

Abstract

Galleria mellonella larvae are a viable model for determining APEC pathogenicity.Larval disease score is the main variable for determining APEC pathogenicity.Response variables should be evaluated up to 24 h post-inoculation.

Keywords: APEC isolates; Galleria mellonella larvae; LD50; larval disease score; melanization; model.
