Abstract

Postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) remains the leading cause of maternal mortality and morbidity worldwide. Recent advances in understanding the hemostatic changes of pregnancy and PPH have led to the development of obstetric-specific approaches to resuscitation. This article aims to examine. 1) changes in the coagulation system during pregnancy. 2) types of coagulopathy associated with PPH, and. 3) the role of point of care tests of coagulation in PPH.
