Abstract
In this paper we review an Italian series of resected primary malignant tumors of the liver, with special reference to hepatocellular carcinoma, according to the classification criteria proposed by Japanese authors. The study emphasizes the presence of a thick peritumoral capsule as the main pathological feature that would indicate survival rate after surgery.
