Abstract

The authors present the results of 109 implantations of foldable intraocular lenses C 10 Chiron. The patients mean age was 64.4 years (28-85). All were operated by phacoemulsification. All lenses were implanted into the capsule. As to postoperative complications, the following were most frequent: mild striata in 21, an elevated intraocular pressure in 10. As to late complications, the authors recorded opacification of the posterior capsule 13x (only twice treated by YAG capsulotomy), cells on the lens 9x, contracture of the capsulotomy 3x. Only two patients were not satisfied with the operation, their vision was 6/9 and 6/6 resp. The visually acuity was 6/9 -6/6 in 79 eyes of 99 during the last check-up examination (80.6%). Astigmatism did not exceed 1 dioptre in any of the patients. Silicone lenses C 10 are easy to handle during implantation and after phacoemulsification satisfactory results are achieved.
