Immediate increase in arterial blood flow in embolized hepatic segments after portal vein embolization: CT demonstration

AJR Am J Roentgenol. 1998 Oct;171(4):1037-9. doi: 10.2214/ajr.171.4.9762992.

Abstract

Objective: This study was conducted to determine whether an immediate change occurs in the blood flow distribution in hepatic segments after segmental portal vein embolization.

Conclusion: We found an immediate change in the distribution of blood flow in the liver after embolization; with portal vein embolization, we found an immediate increase in the hepatic artery blood flow in the affected segments.
