Prof. Dr. Michele Figus, a holder of MD and PhD degrees and Fellow of the European Board of Ophthalmology (FEBOphth), serves as a physician, teacher and manager in Pisa, Italy. He is currently a Full Professor in Ophthalmology and Chairman of the Residency Training Program in Ophthalmology at the University of Pisa, since 2018. He was elected as Vice Chair of the Department of Surgical, Medical, Molecular Pathology and Critical Care Medicine at University of Pisa in 2023. He is also Head and Manager of Ophthalmology at Azienda Ospedaliero Universitaria Pisana and Director of the Centre for Visual Education and Rehabilitation, since 2021. He has been duty as National Expert in ophthalmic diagnosis (2010-2020) by the Italian Ophthalmology Society. His main area of interest is glaucoma. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), European Glaucoma Society (EGS), World Glaucoma Association (WGA), International Society of Cornea Stem Cells and Ocular Surface (SICSSO) Board Member, Italian Society of Ophthalmological Sciences (SISO), Italian Association of Ophthalmologists (AIMO), Italian Glaucoma Society (SIGLA) Board Member and Italian Association for Glaucoma Study (AISG).
