Join the International Student Competition: ReThink Food Challenge!

The ReThink Food Challenge is an international student competition where participants develop a business idea that offers an innovative, circular, and sustainable approach to growing food on Earth by learning from research on space farming. Wageningen University and Research in the Netherlands organized the Challenge, which is available to students from all around the world who are currently in/recently graduated BSc, MSc, and PhD can join. Students can participate in one of two tracks: alternative proteins or indoor farming, with a chance to win a 7000 Euro prize. See More

Operational Local-Scale Circular Bioeconomy System of Systems

An example of an operational circular food system has been created in Florida that includes farm produce and use of sustainable local seafood and aquaculture to supply restaurants with fresh vegetables and seafood. Restaurant food wastes are returned to the farms to feed animals and regenerate soils. New Innovation Institute Circular Bioeconomy Project

The University of Tennessee-Oak Ridge Innovation Institute (ORNL) in February selected a circular bioeconomy project as one of its newest Convergent Research Initiatives for joint research. Oak Ridge National Laboratory’s Erin Webb will co-lead the five-year Circular Bioeconomy Systems CRI with UT’s Niki Labbe. See More
