The best hotels in Asia: 2024 Readers’ Choice Awards

Like a sliver of high-grade tuna paired with sushi rice, Asia is on a roll right now. Talking of food, you served up high scores for Tom Aikens’s East-meets-West menu at The Tokyo Edition, Toranomon, the dumplings at Bangkok’s Sukhothai and the Rajasthani banquet at Jaipur’s Samode Haveli. The Six Senses Fort Barwara in Rajasthan, which took almost a decade to transform into a hotel, was popular for its design, as was Desa Potato Head on Bali, which used upcycled materials in its construction. When it came to community investment, you reckoned Shangri-La Singapore was worthy of recognition, as were The Oberoi Rajvilas and Mihir Garh, which also rated well for their rooms. The PuLi’s central Shanghai location helped pin it to the list for China, and the service at Hong Kong’s Landmark Mandarin Oriental was memorably sharp. In Sri Lanka, boutique pioneer Aditya’s loyal following gave it high marks for its rooms.
