Such has been the chaos in international TV over the past 12 months that you could argue Cineflix Rights’ Head of Scripted, James Durie, is underplaying things when he says it has been “a hell of a year.”
Distributors around the world have watched on in horror as the streaming sector crumbled and the crashing TV ad market decimated budgets at commercial nets everywhere, not to mention the license fee woes being experienced by the likes of the BBC. Redundancies, cost saving and restructuring took hold, and the likes of Paramount, Disney+ and Prime Video have cut back on international originals, in some cases brutally culling non-u.S. shows.
In recent months, international scripted projects from countries such as the UK, Canada and Australia that would have been viable options for the U.S. streamers have suddenly been seen as big gambles. The sense that co-production agreements with streamers could be struck faded into dust,...

The Wimbledon final between Roger Federer and Andy Murray, which aired from 11pm on Seven, drew ratings of 312,000, according to preliminary overnight metro ratings from OzTam.
The match, which lasted four hours, ended in tears for the Brit, who went down in four sets to the seven-times Wimbledon champion.

The show, which aired from 6.30pm to 7.30pm, beat Sunday Night on Seven (1.382m) and Last Man Standing on Ten (418,000).

A federal judge has tossed Lance Reynolds' claims he deserved "executive producer" credit and compensation for bringing Oprah Winfrey's favorite gardening expert, Jamie Durie, to American television on Hgtv's The Outdoor Room. Reynolds made his claims earlier this year, contending that through his Atlantic Talent Management company (Atm) he had helped Durie achieve fame by introducing him to television network executives. Reynolds says that Durie agreed to pay Atm 15 percent of his earnings in commissions and provide a 51 percent ownership stake in The Outdoor Room to Atlantic Films and Television (Aft), an affiliate of Atm. I'm a fairly lucky person. I've won grand prizes in raffles -- tickets to Disneyland two years in a row during elementary school! -- dinners in fancy restaurants, and even a year's supply of Pepsi. With that streak, I was convinced I was going to win the 2010 Dream Home contest, sponsored by Hgtv. I faithfully entered every day for seven weeks, envisioning myself with the $2 million grand-prize package: a brand spankin' new, custom-designed and fully furnished Pueblo-style home outside of Santa Fe, N.M.; a 2010 Gmc Terrain, and $500,000. Well, the winner was announced last night, and (sad face) it wasn't me.
