Film, television and media financing firm BondIt Media Capital has closed a new credit facility of $60 million with the option to increase to $100 million, from Keystone National Group, a private credit fund and investment advisory firm.
The new facility is aimed at refinancing an existing credit facility, that has been a key factor in BondIt’s growth over the last six years.
Suman Mallick and Chris Gilker, Keystone managing directors, have previously worked with the BondIt team to make strategic moves regarding opportunities in film, TV and media following the 2023 SAG and WGA strikes.
“Despite having to navigate through a series of challenges in recent years including industry strikes and interest rate increases, not to mention the pandemic, the BondIt team has continued to build a high-quality portfolio of projects and a sterling reputation in the industry,” Mallick and Gilker wrote in a joint statement. “We are excited to invest...

It’s a Thursday morning and I’m barely awake when my phone greets me with a disturbing response to the fourth episode of Under the Bridge: tweet after tweet expressing anger, even hatred, toward Reena Virk. Someone saying, “I’m not even mad she gets killed.”
I’m upset, but I wish I could say that I’m surprised.
Quinn Shephard
Sometime around 2004, as the Under the Bridge book I adapted was being published, Rebecca Godfrey made the decision not to include the story of how Reena ended up in foster care. She was concerned that this particular fact would make Reena too unlikable to garner sympathy from a reader. This choice, within the context of a book that largely relied on readers’ ability to sympathize with Reena’s murderers, is worth examining. No doubt pressured by the media environment at the time, which had even less tact...

Spoiler Alert: This interview contains spoilers for “Mercy Alone,” the series finale of “Under the Bridge.”
“Under the Bridge” doesn’t have “a traditional ending,” says showrunner Samir Mehta.
After the penultimate episode of the true crime limited series saw Warren Glowatski (Javon Walton) sentenced to life in prison for his involvement in the 1997 murder of Reena Virk (Vritika Gupta), in the finale, the white, wealthy Kelly Ellard (Izzy G) received only a five-year sentence despite having been the ringleader.
“Justice wasn’t really served in real life, so it couldn’t ever be that type of story where you get to the finale and the bad people go away,” Mehta says. Instead, the episode focuses more on the characters “finding their best shot at peace and finding a little bit of grace in their suffering. Exhibiting a bit of mercy isn’t ever going to make the horror go away,...

[This story contains major spoilers from the Under the Bridge finale, “Mercy Alone.”]
The final episode of Under the Bridge saw the complete, real-life events come to light around the night Reena Virk (played by Vritika Gupta in the series) was killed in Saanich, British Columbia by a group of teenagers. She was 14 when she first disappeared in 1997.
The first few minutes of “Mercy Alone,” the eighth episode in Hulu’s true-crime limited series based on Rebecca Godfrey’s 2005 book, begin with Kelly Ellard (Izzy G.) talking explicitly to Josephine (Chloe Guidry) about wanting to break Reena’s bones with a bat, burn her at the stake and bury her alive in the forest. Kelly’s mom, who is in the room, does not even flinch at her daughter threatening to kill someone in such detail.

Hulu’s “Under the Bridge,” which premiered on the streamer last month, could be another drop in the true-crime dead-girl television canon of which there are many varying outings, until it swerves into another direction when telling the horrific true story of Reena Virk. Based on Rebecca Godfrey’s book of the same name, in 1997 the 14-year-old Virk was murdered by a group of teenagers in British Columbia, Canada, after previously being bullied at school.
The television show, helmed by Quinn Shephard and Samir Mehta, delves into Godfrey’s book about Virk’s murder with Riley Keough playing Godfrey and Lily Gladstone as Cam, a fictional character who is a police officer and Godfrey’s estranged friend from high school, who both investigate the Virk case.
In wanting to create a fleshed out show, and to pay respects to Virk, Shephard and Mehta used Godfrey’s book as a jumping off point.

Plot: based on acclaimed author Rebecca Godfrey’s book about the 1997 true story of fourteen-year-old Reena Virk who went to join friends at a party and never returned home. Through the eyes of Godfrey and a local police officer, the series takes us into the hidden world of the young girls accused of the murder — revealing startling truths about the unlikely killer.
Review: While crime exists worldwide, North America’s glut of true crime stories is centered on the United States. We often take for granted that our neighbors in the Great White North are more than America’s nice neighbors or denizens of the Fifty-First State. Canada is a massive country with its own good and bad, with crimes just as heinous as anything we see in America. While the events depicted in Under The Bridge are not as scary as serial killer tales, the story it retells is every bit as disturbing.

Deep into Hulu’s Under the Bridge, author Rebecca Godfrey (Riley Keough) defends the focus of her latest manuscript. “People can do horrible things, and that doesn’t make them inherently evil,” she insists. As she sees it, her book is simply challenging the reader to consider that an individual’s humanity is not defined by their worst deed.
It’s a big ask considering the subject in question has been charged with murder — but potentially a worthy one too, not least because the accused is just a teenager. Unfortunately, it’s also one Under the Bridge does not actually have the nerve to tackle head-on. Despite some moving performances (particularly from its young cast), the writing ultimately proves too vague and too muddled in its messaging to shed new light on much of anything.

After 2011’s “Nobel Thief,” 2012’s “Uncle Shyamal Turns off the Lights,” 2015’s “Peace Haven,” 2016’s “Mi Amor” and 2019’s “Aadhaar,” Indian filmmaker Suman Ghosh returns again to the Busan International Film Festival.
“The Scavenger of Dreams” has its world premiere in the ‘A Window On Asian Cinema’ strand. A treatise on social inequality, the film follows Birju and Shona, trash collectors who live in a Kolkata slum with their young daughter. They scour the city’s affluent areas by day for garbage and their experiences become the grist of stories for their daughter by night.
Like “Aadhaar,” “The Scavenger of Dreams,” then called “The Waste Collector,” was also at Busan’s Asian Project Market, where it gained significant exposure. The germ of the film was from a New York Times article about waste collectors that Ghosh read years ago that stayed with him.

Jessie Mei Li and Ben Barnes may play mortal enemies on "Shadow and Bone," but both of them admit that their characters' relationship is just a little more complicated than light versus shadow. By season two, which hit Netflix on March 16, their characters Alina and General Kirigan - who once seemed poised to become Ravka's most powerful couple - are locked in a bloody power struggle, but they still find themselves linked by a peculiar connection.
"They're two summoners - two sides of the coin - but then they're also, in season two, essentially archnemeses. It's a really interesting relationship," Li tells Popsugar of their characters' fraught bond. Both characters are capable of watching each other and appearing to one another as hallucinations and in dreams throughout season two, which has to be one of the worst bonds one can have with a toxic ex.

Strip away all the CGI smoke monsters and cultural pastiches and invented languages from “Shadow and Bone” and it’s still, at its heart, a tale of Chosen One vs. Dark Lord. Now in its Season 2, the Netflix series is the kind of handsomely made fantasy epic that networks could once build a whole lineup around. There’s a dense mythology of lore and palace intrigue and a love triangle or two for good measure. The show debuted in early 2021 in the midst of a TV world still dotted by question marks and pointed to a possible future for effects-driven literary adaptations.
But for all its heroes and villains linked by destiny — living saint Alina Starkov (Jessie Mei Li) mentally communicating with her sworn enemy the Darkling (Ben Barnes) — and CGI centerpieces — a massive dark-matter entity called The Fold that divides an entire nation in two — there’s a better...

Four new characters from the Grishaverse play major roles in “Shadow and Bone” Season 2 on Netflix. Like the pair of The Darkling and Alina, these new characters contain contradictions.
Adapted from the last two books in Leigh Bardugo’s “Shadow and Bone” trilogy — “Seige and Storm” and “Ruin and Rising” — with plot points from the “Six of Crows” duology mixed in, the sequel installment of the YA fantasy show introduces new characters and builds upon old concepts, specifically that of identity. Twin Heartrenders Tamar Kir-Bataar (Anna Leong Brophy) and Tolya Yul-Bataar (Lewis Tan) challenge the strict Ravkan identity categories in the fantasy world because have Grisha power to manipulate elements, but they are also just as comfortable using battle axes and swords.
“There’s a lot of duality. So I feel like the twins are a physical representation of duality, they’re two different sides of a coin,” Leong Brophy told TheWrap.

After a smartly executed curiosity driven campaign, the promo of Gabbar Is Back has finally been unleashed. The outcome is pretty much as expected, what with an out-and-out massy entertainer with a strong social message – that against corruption – been thrown in. For Akshay Kumar, the film pretty much stands as third in the trilogy of his social action entertainers after Holiday and Baby.
We bring to you 10 reasons that make the Gabbar Is Back promo special, as a result of which it warrants repeat viewing.
Recall value of the title
Gabbar – The name has been iconic for four decades now. More than Mogambo. More than Shakaal. More than Dr. Dang. More than the rest. The greatest villain ever has also been the most moveable of them all. No wonder, when a film releases with Gabbar in the title, it enjoys immense recall value with at least three generations.

Take any day in your life that you wish you had a helping hand. A day you may have forgotten your wallet, when you needed to pay for your bus ticket. A day your car broke down, when you had to go to an interview. What if a stranger gave you that helping hand? No questions asked and in return, didn’t ask for money or a favour. Just that you help another when the chance came to you. Would you? Jai Ho shows us how a common man that left his army life, takes on the fight to help humanity, and for a bit of masala, bashes a few bad guys along the way.

There is nothing better on Halloween than watching a scary film. It gets even better if it is a spooky, bone chilling, terrifying Bollywood film. With the spine tingling themes of haunted abandoned havelis (mansions), reincarnation, revenge of the dead and wandering lost spirits – who said that Bollywood only told romantic tales?

Starring Ashok Kumar and Madhubala in the lead, Mahal was the very first Hindi film to explore the theme of re-incarnation. In the style of a thriller, Mahal pioneered the way for Gothic Indian fiction.
