The late Mark Lanegan will be honored with a December 5th tribute show at London’s Roundhouse. The concert will feature Depeche Mode’s Dave Gahan, Queens of the Stone Age’s Josh Homme, the Pretenders’ Chrissie Hynde, and Afghan Whigs’ Greg Dulli, among others.
The show, dubbed “Mark Lanegan 60 – A Celebration,” will take place 10 days after what would have been the singer-songwriter’s 60th birthday (November 25th). The onetime Screaming Trees frontman died at the age of 57 on February 22nd, 2022.
Among the other artists set to perform are Troy Van Leeuwen (Queens of the Stone Age), Bobby Gillespie (Primal Scream), Alison Mosshart, and multi-instrumentalist Duke Garwood. The production team Soulsavers will serve as the house band.
A listing on the Roundhouse website states, “This special tribute honors Lanegan’s legacy as one of the most revered voices in modern music, with major collaborators and close friends gathering to perform...

“Life is what happens when you’re busy making other plans,” said John Lennon, but in Hollywood, life can be a whole different ball game. Recently, an old rumor has waltzed back into the spotlight. Remember the time when Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs and Jennifer Lopez were a couple?
Diddy and Jimmy Kimmel | Credit: Jimmy Kimmel Live / ABC
If not, don’t worry, because this will remind you. So, what’s all the fuss about? Apparently, there’s a rumor—Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith allegedly tried to rope Lopez into a threesome while she was dating Diddy.
Diddy was even caught off guard by Jimmy Kimmel’s surprise question regarding this uncanny rumor. The former’s expression was a sight to behold—he looked so flabbergasted. But to everyone’s surprise, the rapper, 54, denied knowing anything about the whole situation.

The Young and the Restless spoilers for Wednesday, September 25, suggest a race against time as Nick and Mariah devise a plan to save Sharon. But will they implement it in time?
Hurry Up and Wait
It took Nick (Joshua Morrow) and Mariah (Camryn Grimes) a while to figure out that they believed that Sharon (Sharon Case) was in crisis. They tried talking to her, giving her space, calling out her lies, and going along with her delusions. Nothing worked.
Finally, Nick and Mariah conclude that they need to step in and do something because Sharon cannot help herself. But considering the time that passed between their starting to suspect something was wrong and their resolve to do something about it, Sharon may have slipped through their grasp — for good.
More: What if Sharon knows precisely what she’s doing?
Boiling Point

After being delayed several months by the writers strike and the actors strike, season 5 of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things (which is also the last season of the show) finally went into production at the start of the year and is now deep into its twelve month shooting schedule… So deep, in fact, that the cast has gotten together for a read-through the script for the final episode – and while speaking with ComicBook.com, cast member David Harbour revealed there was “heavy weeping” during the reading of that script.
Stranger Things has the following synopsis: A love letter to the ‘80s classic genre films that captivated a generation, Stranger Things is a thrilling drama set in the seemingly normal Midwestern town of Hawkins, Indiana. After a boy vanishes into thin air, his close-knit group of friends and family search for answers and are pulled into a high-stakes and deadly series of events.

Romero's estate, Daniel Kraus completed the novel and it's now available! In our latest Q&a, I caught up with Daniel Kraus to learn more about his discovery, how he approached finishing the story, and why he's so excited for Daily Dead readers to check it out for themselves:

Like many of my fellow writers, journalists, and music lovers, I spent many hours on the phone or emailing with Steve Silberman, the acclaimed science writer, passionate Grateful Dead and David Crosby fan, and all-around mensch who died of natural causes on Aug. 28 at age 66. His husband, Keith Karraker, announced the news online.
But one of my conversations with Silberman stands out.
It was the fall of 2016, days after Donald Trump was, unbelievably, going to be our next president. Silberman already had it on his calendars to talk with me...

Last year’s Wanted Dead had an interesting start, but it faced issues from the get-go. Originally meant to be a third-person shooter like Spec Ops: The Line, the game took a different direction under Sergei Kolobashkin’s influence.
A user on reddit recently shared an intensive story regarding the development troubles and everything that went down behind the scenes. A moderator on the sub also claimed that Op had shown them verifiable proof of their sources and insider knowledge, leading everyone to believe their credibility.

On Aug. 23, 1985, the Warner Bros. teen comedy Better Off Dead, starring John Cusack, hit limited release. The film, written and directed by Savage Steve Holland, grossed $10 million domestically in theaters. The Hollywood Reporter’s original review is below:
As a title, Better Off Dead doesn’t give one much of a clue as to what the movie’s about. It does, however, reflect a likely audience reaction to this crude, cartoonish comedy. Not surprisingly, Warner Bros. has been doing a lot of research — sneaking Dead in places like Denver — to figure out what to do with this one, other than to stamp D.O.A. on its opening.
John Cusack stars as a myopic high schooler smitten with a perky blonde (Amanda Wyss) who leaves him for the school’s obnoxious ski team captain (Aaron Dozier). While plot structure may seem like just an other faded away August release, the...

Batman: Arkham City allowed many players to take down their favorite DC villains, including The Riddler. However, the genius megalomaniac could only be taken down in a very specific way, and the Bat never actually lands a blow on the man!

Alien: Romulus is now just mere hours away from playing in theaters nationwide. And, with it currently "Certified Fresh" at 82% on Rotten Tomatoes (making it the third best-reviewed instalment), excitement is at an all-time high among fans of the long-running sci-fi/horror franchise.
There's been a huge amount of speculation about whether this latest instalment ties into the wider Alien franchise, though it has largely been billed as a standalone story. Still, with the Disney-owned 20th Century Studios looking to restore the Xenomorphs to their former glory in theaters, we certainly don't anticipate this being a one-and-done (regardless of whether that takes the form of a direct sequel).

One group after another, they’ve been congregating over Zoom in support of Kamala Harris’ presidential run: Women, men, Swifties, “White Dudes,” Bob Dylan fans. So why not “Deadheads for Kamala”?
Although it sounds like a conservative talk-radio wisecrack, such a confab will take place on Aug. 13, in the hopes of bringing together new and vintage Dead fans as another potential voting bloc for Harris. The meeting was the brainchild of broadcaster Steven Leventhal, who owns the streaming radio station Acid Flashback Radio and has been a Deadhead since 1985. After...

Only two weeks remain until the release of ‘Deadpool & Wolverine,’ the MCU’s sole movie of the year. This film is significant for several reasons. Firstly, it introduces Deadpool into the MCU, after his tenure in Fox’s X-Men franchise. It also marks the MCU’s first R-rated movie, representing a major milestone for mutants in this universe.
Moreover, this movie aims to rekindle the enthusiasm fans once had for the MCU. Following a series of box-office flops and lackluster projects, early projections indicate that ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ could be Disney’s most profitable film of the year, potentially even surpassing ‘Inside Out 2.’
Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds are currently on a press tour promoting the movie. At an event in London, the first 30+ minutes of footage were shown, and the initial reactions have been overwhelmingly positive. Critics noted that Disney has not restrained Reynolds or his portrayal of Deadpool.

There’s two weeks separating us from the release of ‘Deadpool & Wolverine,’ the MCU’s only movie released this year. The movie is significant for several reasons. First, it’s going to drop Deadpool smack in the middle of the MCU, after existing in Fox’s X-Men franchise for most of the installments. It’s the MCU’s first R-rated movie and a major milestone for mutants in the MCU.
It’s also a movie that’s supposed to reignite the interest that fans used to hold for the MCU. After a series of box-office bombs and mediocre projects, the early projections show that ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ might be Disney’s most profitable movie this year, perhaps surpassing even ‘Inside Out 2.’

Corpse Crusaders: "In the popular imagination, zombies are scary, decomposing corpses hunting down the living. But since the 1930s, there have also been other zombies shambling across the panels of comic books—zombies that aren’t quite what most people think zombies should be. There have been zombie slaves, zombie henchmen, talking zombies, beautiful zombies, and even zombie heroes.
Using archival research into Golden Age comics and extended analyses of comics from the 1940s to today, Corpse Crusaders explores the profound influence early action/adventure and superheroic generic conventions had on shaping comic book zombies. It takes the reader from the 1940s superhero, the Purple Zombie, through 1950s revenge-from-the-grave zombies, to the 1970s anti-hero, Simon Garth (“The Zombie”) and the gruesome heroes-turned-zombies of Marvel Zombies. In becoming immersed in superheroic logics early on, the zombie in comics became a figure that, unlike the traditional narrative uses of other monsters, actually...

Can a single, playful moment truly turn the tide of someone’s career? This is the entertainment industry, where even the smallest joke can reverberate across the pond of fate and become defining milestones; such a concept is not a whimsy—it is a reality.
Okay, so picture a scene filled with laughter and disbelief as Nicole Kidman reveals her past crush on Jimmy Fallon, setting the stage for an anecdote that teeters on the brink of career-altering. It was on The Tonight Show in 2015 that Kidman bashfully recounted that fateful meeting at Fallon’s apartment—a rendezvous she believed to be a romantic “hang”, while he obliviously anticipated a business chat about Bewitched.

Jimmy Fallon, reminiscing about the now-viral interview, told Deadline Hollywood recently that the “date” with the Dead Calm actress had evolved into a running joke, which her now-husband Keith Urban had gladly joined.

Ian McKellen Teases Return As Gandalf In The Lord Of The Rings: The Hunt For Gollum: "If I'm Alive!"
Back in March, we got word that a new The Lord of the Rings movie is set to hit theaters in 2026, with Andy Serkis on board to direct and reprise the role of Gollum.
Original Lotr trilogy director Peter Jackson and his writing partners Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens are also set to return as producers, and “will be involved every step of the way” according to Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav.
The movie's working title is The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum, which should give you a pretty good idea of what the story will focus on! The movie will likely be set shortly before the events of Jackson's trilogy.
This time period is mentioned in both Tolkien's novels and the films, with Gandalf and Aragorn attempting to track Gollum down before he falls into Sauron's hands. In the movies, the wizard says he...

Dead & Company honored the late Bill Walton, “the biggest Deadhead in the World,” during their Thursday night performance at the Las Vegas Sphere.
The NBA Hall of Famer and broadcaster Walton died earlier this week from cancer at 71.
While the Grateful Dead spinoff band performed the song Fire on the Mountain, several photos of Walton were displayed on the video boards at the entertainment arena.
The photos included Walton attending various Dead concerts, snaps with band members, and a tie-dyed number “32” — the number he wore during his college and NBA days.
Following Walton’s death, the band took to social media to remember their friend.
“Fare you well, fare you well, we love you more than words can tell,” Dead & Company shared in an Instagram post, saying Walton was the biggest deadhead ever and “an irreplaceable force and spirit in our family.

In The Surfer, an exploitation film set to pressure-cook, a mild-mannered man is pitted against a group who even Andrew Tate might find a touch extreme. It’s set in South Australia on fictional Luna Bay, the kind of place where if the heat doesn’t get you, something else probably will. The water shines turquoise-blue but the beaches look like scorched earth. Into this furnace arrives an unnamed man (Nicolas Cage) hoping for nothing more than to view a cliffside property and catch a wave, but the locals have other ideas: “Don’t live here, don’t surf here,” one says, offering about as much hospitality as a switchblade.
The director of this entertaining potboiler is Lorcan Finnegan, an Irish filmmaker who seems acutely aware of the hand he’s holding here: one of the very best things about The Surfer is how alive it is to Cage’s image,...

Although many people believe that once a show ends, the fandom it had immediately evaporates, this is often not the case. The more viewers a show has during its run, the more chances it has of attracting new people decades after its premiere. Gilmore Girls is one of the best examples of this.
One of the things that makes the show so popular is that it appeals to a wide range of ages. While some of the Og fans used to identify more with Rory, they have grown up and face the same issues as Lorelai. This also makes more viewers think about the on-screen relationships and all the possibilities the show missed out on.
