Sunday Am Update: How bad was this year’s Super Bowl weekend? Realize that Kenneth Branagh’s romance mystery misfire, Death on the Nile, opened to more over the Big Game weekend ($12.8M) two years ago, and that’s when female moviegoers were scared of Omicron!
Super Bowl weekend, despite its damper on Sunday business, used to be a box office frame that could still yield results, even for films aimed at dudes. Like in 2015, when the sixth weekend of American Sniper drummed up $30.7 million, or in 2020, when the third weekend of Bad Boys for Life did $17.6M.
Last year’s Super Bowl weekend totaled $52.6M, per Box Office Mojo, led by Warner Bros’ Magic Mike’s Last Dance, with an $8.3M opening. This year, we’re lower at $40M, -24% from a year ago and that’s because there isn’t a notable major studio wide release. That’s also...

Mindy Kaling’s upcoming Netflix comedy series set in the world of pro basketball has added three new cast members, Variety has learned.
Brenda Song, Scott MacArthur, and Drew Tarver are all joining the show alongside previously announced series lead Kate Hudson. The untitled series received a 10-episode order at Netflix in June 2021.
The official logline states, “When a scandal forces her brother to resign, Isla Gordon (Hudson) is appointed President of the Los Angeles Waves, one of the most storied professional basketball franchises, and her family business. Ambitious and often overlooked, Isla will have to prove to her skeptical brothers, the board, and the larger sports community that she was the right choice for the job, especially in the unpredictable, male-dominated world of sports.”

Cole Sprouse is opening up about his memories – or lack thereof – from his time on The Suite Life of Zack and Cody.
The 31-year-old actor starred on the hit Disney show with his twin brother, Dylan Sprouse. It aired from 2005 to 2008, and the spinoff, The Suite Life on Deck, aired from 2008 to 2011.
During a new interview with Entertainment Tonight, Cole was asked about his costar, Kim Rhodes‘, recent comments about the show. He revealed that he doesn’t remember a whole lot from filming.
Keep reading to find out more…
Kim shared during a November 2023 appearance on the Back to the Best podcast that Dylan refused to deliver a fat joke about her that was written in the script once. (She was pregnant at the time.)
She recalled, “[Dylan] goes, ‘I would not disrespect any woman that way, let alone this woman. You write something funny and I’ll say it.

Bunk’d, which is currently the Disney Channel’s longest running sitcom, is to conclude after the seventh series.
From early 2000s classics like Even Stevens and Lizzie McGuire to The Suite Life franchise, That’s So Raven and the hugely succesful Hannah Montana (which was spun off into feature film Hannah Montana: The Movie in 2009), Disney’s formula of well cast, high concept sitcoms has put it at the top of the tween sitcom tree for several decades.
One of its more recent successes was Jessie, which provided a star vehicle for Debby Ryan after several years in The Suite Life On Deck.
The show saw Ryan play the titular character, who acted as a nanny for three kids – Zuri, Ravi, Luke and Emma, played by Skai Jackson, Karen Brar, Cameron Boyce and Peyton List, respectively. Jessie grew into one of Dusney’s most popular shows and eventually ran from 2011 to 2015.

Just incase Dylan and Cole Sprouse forgot they have an important dinner to make on Thursday night, fans of their series “The Suite Life on Deck” were eager to remind them.
A meme of the two at-the-time youngster actors began making the rounds earlier in the week, finally leading to Cole acknowledging the reservation on Thursday, posting to his Instagram story a screen recording of his exploding notifications pinging him about the show.
The reference in question is a throwback all the way to the first season of “The Suite Life of Zack and Cody” spin-off where Zack and Cody, played by the Sprouse brothers, attempt to make a reservation at a Chef Gigi restaurant in Rome. In the episode, the hostess tells the two, “I can squeeze you in at 7:30 … on Nov. 16, 2023.”
Pop Based shared the clip in question early Wednesday morning.

Martin, party of two? Your table is finally ready.
For Disney Channel junkies of a certain age, today’s date (Nov. 16, 2023) holds a very special, very unhinged meaning. “When in Rome,” A 2009 episode of The Suite Life on Deck, found twins Zack (Dylan Sprouse) and Cody Martin (Cole Sprouse) trying to get a reservation at a restaurant in Italy. Unfortunately, they were informed that a table wouldn’t be available until 7:30 p.m. on — you guessed it — Nov. 16, 2023.

Those who grew up watching Disney Channel likely loved to see the mischief caused by Zack and Cody Martin on the popular show The Suite Life of Zack and Cody. The twin brothers were played by Dylan and Cole Sprouse, and they tortured Mr. Moseby (Phill Lewis) while somewhat befriending Maddie Fitzpatrick (Ashley Tisdale) and London Tipton (Brenda Song). Years later, the show is long gone, and the cast is all grown up.

Steven DeKnight, known for the Netflix version of “Daredevil” and “Jupiter’s Legacy,” has called Disney+’s upcoming reboot of the superhero drama an “old Disney scam.”
In 2022, it was announced that Disney+ would be moving forward with its own Daredevil series, titled “Daredevil: Born Again.” Though the series will see Charlie Cox reprise his role as the blind superhero, it will largely involve a different creative team than the one behind the Netflix original.
“It’s an old Disney scam where they slightly rename a series to reset contract terms back to first season. Needs to be addressed by all the guilds/unions and crushed!” DeKnight wrote on X.
The filmmaker’s post was part of a conversation about HBO’s recent cancelation of “Winning Time.” In response to the news that the series was cancelled after its second season, a NYC-based IATSE grip asked if he had to “post...

You're probably pretty familiar with Cole and Dylan Sprouse if you grew up in the '90s. The 27-year-old twins started acting when they were only 8 months old and haven't stopped since. They got their big break playing Ross Geller's son, Ben, on "Friends" and the adorable Julian in Adam Sandler's "Big Daddy" but gained a huge following with their Disney Channel show "The Suite Life of Zack & Cody" and its spinoff series,"The Suite Life on Deck."
Even though they took some time off to attend NYU, the pair have continued acting through the years, with Cole taking on the role of Jughead on "Riverdale," and Dylan starring as Trevor in "After We Collided" in 2020. More recently, Dylan took on a role in another romantic drama, "Beautiful Disaster," which premiered on Netflix on April 12, 2023.

A veritable army of Disney Channel stars are reuniting for a very un-Disney project.
Matthew Scott Montgomery (“So Random!”), Debby Ryan, Alyson Stoner, Kevin Chamberlin (“Jessie”), Tim Bagley, Shayne Topp (“So Random!”) and Damien Haas (“So Random!”) have all signed on to appear in an upcoming LGBTQ+ horror thriller directed by Allisyn Snyder.
Titled “Howdy, Neighbor!,” the upcoming film is written by Montgomery, and is formatted as a “screenlife” film, with all of the footage occurring on computer screens. Montgomery stars as Benjamin, a young queer millenial actor living in West Hollywood who was once a famous child actor. When a new neighbor Chase (Grant Jordan) moves across the hall and reveals himself as a fan, Benjamin begins investigating the oddly familiar man with his best friend Harley (Ryan). Aside from the former Disney Channel stars, the supporting cast also includes Sterling Sulieman, Adam Faison, Greer Grammer and Kimmy Shields.

Photo: ‘Moonshot’ A Familiar Face in Space Going into the latest HBO Max original film ‘Moonshot’, I was cautiously optimistic. On one hand, I’m not someone who’s strongly into romantic comedies, as stories centered around love are ones I feel are generally some of the least interesting in terms of what film has to offer. On the other hand, this movie blends romantic comedy-drama with science fiction, and a cheesy teen romance film with a sci-fi backdrop did sound potentially interesting. Also of note is the fact that this movie stars Cole Sprouse, someone who, along with his brother Dylan, has been in the acting business since the two were very young. As someone who first came to know about them from the Disney Channel sitcom they starred in, ‘The Suite Life of Zack and Cody’, and its sequels series ‘The Suite Life on Deck’, which I watched quite a few years ago,...

It's been about a decade since The Suite Life of Zack & Cody and The Suite Life on Deck ended. But if you're hoping for some reunions, you may be out of luck. Cole Sprouse explained why he didn't want to revisit the Suite Life series on Monday's episode of The Tonight Show. "I don't think it should be done if I'm being honest," he told Jimmy Fallon. "I think there's a huge potential to kind of demolish that perfect little golden memory of a program if you go back and you revive it." The 27-year-old actor then admitted he's "not the biggest fan of the sequel and the spinoff thing." "I think also, if enough time elapses,...

For six years, starting in 2005, former child actors Cole and Dylan Sprouse conquered the Disney Channel by starring in the hit sitcom “The Suite Life of Zack & Cody” and its spinoff, “The Suite Life on Deck.” But then in 2011, the twin brothers — whose credits also include “Big Daddy” and “Grace Under Fire” (where they split the same role in both as young boys) — decided they needed to take a break and enrolled as freshmen at NYU.
In a cover story for Variety‘s annual Power of Young Hollywood issue, Cole, now 27, said he’d be open to working with his brother again. “We’ve talked about it,” said Cole, who since 2017 has played the sardonic narrator Jughead on CW’s “Riverdale.”
Cole added that it wouldn’t be a reboot or a reunion for the Disney Channel. “The whole kitschy twin thing, I don’t think that sells anymore,...

Most child actors don’t thrive in Hollywood past puberty. Cole Sprouse opted out on his own terms. The 2005 hit Disney Channel sitcom “The Suite Life of Zack & Cody” turned Cole and his twin brother, Dylan, into the Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen of their generation. But after the series and its spinoff wrapped, Cole was ready for something new.
In 2011, Sprouse enrolled as a freshman at NYU. Over the next four years, he regained his anonymity, took photography classes, majored in archaeology and landed an entry-level job at a small laboratory in Brooklyn. “I was bagging artifacts,” says Sprouse, who is now 27. “And I got a call from my manager, who begged me to come back and audition for pilot season.” Sprouse made a deal. “If I don’t book anything, then I’m not going to do this anymore,” he recalls telling his manager. “And I gave her...

Actor Dylan Sprouse said on Monday that “idiots” hacked his Twitter account and subsequently used it to send a racist epithet and also promote other Twitter users whose accounts have since been suspended.
“Gained my account back, got hacked obviously… as if these idiots didn’t make it easy enough to tell,” Sprouse wrote Monday afternoon. “Think it’s and [sic] cell service provider thing. Fixing it Asap but I’m in Tokyo with Barbara for our anniversary so thanks for the patience everyone and sorry for the trouble.”
Just after noon on Monday, Sprouse’s account, @dylansprouse, began posting uncharacteristically random tweets, followed by one containing the n-word. Shortly after, Sprouse’s account tweeted that it would “follow everyone that follows @kNuBLoM and @PlugWalkerJoe” and tweeted other messages promoting those accounts.

It's safe to say that no one was really expecting a Netflix romantic comedy to be as big a hit as Set It Up has become, yet here we are! The rom-com has viewers in their feelings and waxing poetry about how good the Netflix original film is. A large part of that success is thanks to the amazing cast, which includes 24-year-old actress Zoey Deutch. She brings the wonderfully sweet Harper to life, and her chemistry with costar Glen Powell (who plays Charlie) can be felt through the screen.
This definitely isn't the first time Deutch has graced a screen, though; she actually began her career on the Disney Channel's The Suite Life on Deck in 2010. She's been booked and busy ever since! So, before you get excited thinking about the possible sequel to Set It Up, check out exactly where you've seen Deutch's acting chops before.
