I'm warning you, I'm going to be very harsh. However, I like director of this film. Maybe that was why I was so disappointed. The director Thierry de Peretti is a fan of his island: Corsica, he's used to making political films about Corsican independentists, complex films with characters who evolve throughout the film. One of his previous films, "Une Vie Violente" (A Violent Life), although it was similarly muddled in its explanations of the Corsican conflict was captivating and carried by a gifted (however restrained) actor, with a complex character whose evolutions were understandable. This film, on the other hand, falls into several shortcomings. First and foremost, it is disembodied. Its main character is cruelly lacking in charisma, and the character of Antonia, a young Corsican who dreams of being a reporter, is ultimately lacking in coherence and dynamism, and is also forced to stage extremely poor, unrealistic dialogue. Second, the director seems to have adapted a book which was complex and probably better pictured than his film because we don't really understand her motivations in life, who she loves, what are her main goals, and it's the same for the Corsican struggle for independance which was I believe the director's main goal. Such a pity and such a bore for us, spectators of a disembodied fail.
