New Hartford Night 2024 – One last concert before the Fall weather comes!

Oh my…Labor Day has come and gone and school has been back in session for a few weeks now.  Where did the summer go?  I want to extend my best wishes to all our schoolteachers, staff, and administrators for a great school year!  I also want to thank our school bus drivers for the job they do so well…getting our students to and from school safely.

We had a productive summer both here at Town Hall and at our DPW.  We completed our new courts at Brown’s Corner and Bathroom project at Brodie Park.  Recreation was fun with the camp, beach and summer concerts all providing some good, summer fun.

On the road front, our DPW did a good job of working with our contractor to improve Cedar Lane before the start of school.  As the finishing touches are completed (driveway aprons, curbing and speed bumps near the school), some of our team will focus their energy on the southern end of South Road near the Burlington town line (south of West Road) with the hope of getting that job paved in early October.  We were also fortunate that the State of Connecticut repaved the northern section of Route 219…making traveling toward the airport a much more enjoyable ride.

We’ll have one last summer blow out at New Hartford Night on Saturday, September 21st.  There will be food (a few food trucks), music (West Hill Groove and the Tradesmen), a cornhole tournament - a campfire and one last chance to get together before the cooler weather of fall moves in.  The event is free, so please come and enjoy our last event of the season with friends and neighbors.

With the change in season, its always a good reminder that September also brings Hurricane season.  With the onset of more frequent “high intensity” storms (that tend to knock out electricity) early September might a good time to review your home to ensure you have the essentials should we all lose power.  A good supply of batteries, bottled water and some canned goods – along with a little bit of firewood (or better yet a generator) can make enduring a power outage much easier.

As always, to keep up with all things New Hartford – please check in to our town website  www.newhartfordct.gov.  From the convenience of your home you can subscribe to receive emails for “Town Alerts” or you can follow the activities of different Boards and Commissions.  Also remember that your Board of Selectmen and Board of Finance also provide hybrid links so that you can view the Board meetings from the comfort of your home.  These are great ways of staying informed with what’s happening in town.

As always if you are ever in need of assistance, feel free to reach out to our Town Hall team @ 860-379-3389.  We’re here to help you!

We’ll see you at New Hartford Night – but until then - enjoy the cooler weather and the coming of fall!
