Resources: Talking to children about difficult news topics

The news can be upsetting or worrying for children, especially when there is also a lot of mis and disinformation about the topic. We have lots of guides, resources and activities to help you discuss news safely in the classroom and at home.

Secondary school workshops: bring your class into the newsroom, wherever you are in the UK

We’re looking for new state schools to take part in our *free* workshops, designed to open up the world of news for young people. Your class could be making a front page, writing features or learning how to spot fake news.

Workshop and peer learning: sign up to our Media Literacy Ambassadors project

Our free Media Literacy Ambassador Programme trains young people in years 9-13 in the Midlands, London and South and West Yorkshire to teach their peers about fake news, enhancing media literacy skills across year groups and subjects in your school or college. Register now.
