About the Session
The Economic Times, in collaboration with USV, brings an informative webinar series aimed at decoding everything you need to know about the signs and symptoms of diverse diseases and the modern-day, multi-dimensional approach to prevention, care, and management. Primarily, the series is aimed at disseminating scientific evidence-based knowledge and in-depth insights as some of India’s top doctors convene to share their expertise and emphasise the need for increased awareness, preventive measures, and regular health check-ups. These experts explain the why, what, who, when, and how of diseases, covering a wide gamut from diabetes to heart health, and more. The aim is to empower the audience to identify the symptoms, seek timely medical interventions, and manage risk factors.
This series is designed to disseminate scientific, evidence-based, and authentic information from some of India’s best medical practitioners, sharing insights into the macro and micro picture of diabetes, cardiac health, hormonal health, and mapping the rising trends in medicine and minimally invasive surgeries to tackle the silent epidemics. This series is committed to raising awareness about the lesser-talked-about aspects of disease burden and highlighting some of the emerging ideas, unconventional approaches, and practical tips to help people understand the often overlooked aspects of health better and navigate the journey towards wellness with greater efficiency, dignity, and confidence.
For instance, previously the multimedia series shed light on various intersectional nuances of how heart disease is not only a “man’s problem” but also a silent killer for women. Furthermore, it delved deeper into the bias that heart disease afflicts the urban and the affluent population given its strong associations with shifts in consumption patterns and rapid urbanisation, often resulting in obesity, high levels of stress, diabetes, and sleep disorders.
The upcoming webinar titled ‘The Brain, The Heart and The Kidney: The Trifecta of Hypertension’ will dive deep into the ticking bomb called hypertension through the unique and intersectional lens of India.
Dr. Ajit Mehta, Dr. Soumik Chaudhuri, and Dr. Basavaraj G S, in a conversation with Mayuri Dongre, will share insights into the high-risk factors and dissect their significance and also stress the necessity of early screenings and medical interventions, lifestyle modifications, and a holistic approach to battle high blood pressure, a silent killer.
The panel discussion will delve into the pervasive issue of hypertension in India, affecting nearly one in four adults and posing significant health risks such as stroke, heart diseases, and kidney diseases. With co-morbidities like diabetes and obesity exacerbating its impact, urgent awareness and action are paramount.
